Anime series have been popular for years, but it’s safe to say that the Japanese animation style is experiencing a resurgence. There are a variety of anime genres to enjoy, from record-breaking shows like “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” to the humorous gangster anime “The Way of the Househusband.” “Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion,” better known as “Code Geass.” was one of the most popular anime series of the 2000s.
Exiled prince Lelouch vi Britannia — who goes by Lelouch Lamperouge, features in the mecha anime. C.C. is an enigmatic girl who Lelouch meets while attending Ashford Academy, and she grants him the power to command anybody to do whatever he wants, which is known as the Power of Kings, or Geass. Lelouch utilizes his Geass to find his mother’s murderers and bring peace to his country, and in the process, he turns into a masked vigilante.
With the success of “Code Geass,” Funimation released a trilogy of compilation recap films. But the popular franchise is far from over; in fact, Crunchyroll has announced a new anime spinoff titled “Code Geass: Z of the Recapture” in 2020, which promises to further expand the “Code Geass” universe. Here’s all we know so far about the thrilling series.
When is Code Geass: Z of the Recapture premiering?
Fans have been waiting for further information about the “Code Geass: Z of the Recapture” series since Crunchyroll announced it in December 2020. Unfortunately, no official premiere date for the upcoming show has been set. Despite the fact that we don’t know when “Code Geass: Z of the Recapture” will air, fans are already talking about it on social media.
Who will be in Code Geass: Z of the Recapture?
Despite the fact that no official cast announcement has been made for “Code Geass: Z of the Recapture,” we may assume that many of the characters from the 2019 film “Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection” will return to the show. Lelouch, C.C., Suzaku Kururugi, and Nunnally vi Britannia are all expected to appear. Though the movies appear to be simple recaps of the show, there are several important storyline alterations in the “Code Geass” universe that generate inconsistencies — so it’s unclear whether the new series will be a direct sequel to the original show or based on the timeline from the movies.
The Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection movie was apparently conceived as an alternate timeline since Taniguchi stated that the compilation trilogy is “not a negation of the television series, but rather one possible outcome.” As a result, the original ending is preserved, while the new movies establish a new canon based on a different timeline. While the premise for the new “Code Geass” series is unknown, one possibility is that we may learn more about the characters’ backstories, especially because of Lelouch’s involvement in “Code Geass: Z of the Recapture” is also unidentified.
