11 Creepy And Disturbing Monsters Of Scooby Dooby Doo Cartoon – Backstories Explained!

The one thing that all generations, from Gen X to Gen Z, have in common is their affection for Scooby-doo. You might not recognise the lyrics of the current chart-topping song, but you’d definitely identify Scooby-music doo’s from a mile away.

Askids, these meddling kids were responsible for a lot of our good night’s sleep by refuting ghost beliefs. Our favourite, The Mystery Inc., would reveal the person posing as a ghost at the end of each episode.

For nearly half a century, Fred, Daphne, Velma, Shaggy, and Scooby-Doo have been the friends we need. This cartoon’s enduring appeal stems from the fact that it introduced us to characters with whom we can identify. Velma and Shaggy reassured us that being different is fine.

Velma has served as a role model for students who have felt too geeky to fit in. Her intelligence, combined with Shaggy’s and Scooby’s amazing timing, has always saved the day. Shaggy’s perpetually hungry hipster persona stands in stark contrast to Fred and Daphne’s.

Fred and Daphne are portrayed as grownups who are mature and responsible. Scooby-Doo was conceived during the Vietnam War, when political tensions were at an all-time high, as the old saying goes; great art is inspired in times of crisis. Let’s take a look at eleven of the creepy monsters who might have gotten away if it weren’t for the nosy kids.

    Ben Ravencroft

    Ben Ravencroft

While working on a case at the museum, the gang meets Ben Ravencroft. Velma was a huge fan of his writings. Ravencroft appreciated Velma’s renowned brilliance at the same time. After deceiving The Mystery Inc.

into locating Sarah’s grimoire, he unleashed his warlock abilities. He had the ability to light fires and breathe life into inanimate objects. In terms of strength, he was far behind his forefathers. In the end, we believe he deserved to be confined for all eternity inside her spell book.

The Oakhaven horror writer fantasised about world dominance. To accomplish his goal, he devised a complex scheme to deceive Velma and the gang. Unfortunately, he was not the only villain in townthat hadsomething hidden up his sleeve.

The Mayor and other townspeople had spread rumors about the vengeful ghost of Sarah Ravencroft. They went around haunting people to increase tourist footfall in Oakhaven. It is villains like Ravencroft who gave a bad name to adults over the age of thirty.

Ravencroft invites the group to his homeland, Oakhaven, in the episode Scooby-Doo and the Witch’s Ghost. He meets up with the gang to help them solve a museum mystery. Ben is outraged when he arrives at Oakhaven and sees his forefathers’ reputation being ruined.

In their concert, the Hex Girls play songs about Sarah Ravencroft. Sarah was executed in the sixteenth century after being suspected of witchcraft. Ben claims that the accusations that she was a witch were unfounded. He explains to the gang that she was a Wiccan healer who used herbs to assist people.

Because of her unusual character, she was misunderstood and unfairly accused. Ravencroft says that Sarah had a book with the details of her patients, which will prove her innocence. The Mayor apologizes to Ravencroft. He confesses about finding Sarah’s headstone, but her body and book were nowhere to be found.

Velma soon figures out the location of the book. Ravencroft reveals his true nature and intentions once the book is found. It is revealed that the book is Sarah’s Grimoire. She was an evil witch who was trapped inside her book by the Wiccans.

After unlocking his warlock powers, Ben releases Sarah, but is saddened to learn that she has no plans to rule the world with him at her side. She plans to annihilate it. Ben tries to return her to the book, but only a Wiccan is capable of doing so.

Thorn, a Hex Girls member, is a Wiccan descendant who reads the ritual in the book that would take her back in time. In the process, Sarah takes Ben into the novel with her. The book is eventually burned and destroyed, and peace in Oakhaven is restored due to The Mystery Inc. and the Hex Girls.

    Ghost Clown

    Ghost Clown

The Ghost Clown was one of the most ingenious villains the group had ever encountered. He put four of the members’ lives in jeopardy and hypnotised three of them. The Ghost Clown turned out to be Harry the Hypnotist in disguise.

He intended to exact vengeance on Mr. Barnstorm’s circus for imprisoning him. Harry was once a circus performer, but he was sacked after being found stealing.

Scooby was mesmerised to walk the tight ropes, and Daphne was hypnotised to dress up as a ballerina and ride a unicycle. He also used hypnosis to tame the lions by hypnotising Shaggy. He had tricked the gang into thinking there are two Ghost Clowns haunting the circus. He created a replica of him using balloons.

His evil laughter was far more bone-chilling than his cheeky one-liners. He tried his best to stay one step ahead of the gang but it was Shaggy’s plan that revealed his identity and led to his capture.

After hearing about the unusual events taking place at the circus, the gang decided to investigate. The gang came across two circus performers as they drove into the woods. Mr. Barnstorm, the circus’s manager, feared that a Ghost Clown was haunting the show.

The gang departs, but Scooby remains at the circus, where the Ghost Clown hypnotises Scooby with his gold coin. Scooby is found walking the tightrope when the gang returns for him.

Shaggy and Velma rush to his aid, while Freddy and Daphne search the costume tent for the perpetrator. The clown hypnotises Daphne and confines Freddy inside a trunk. She however breaks out of the trance, after an elephant squirts water on her. The gang devices a plan to capture the Ghost Clown inside a cage but their plan backfires.

Freddy’s cry of frustration triggers Shaggy’s memory of being hypnotized and helps him device a new plan. The ghost clown tries to hypnotize Shaggy and Scooby.

Shaggy and Scooby hold out a mirror and he gets tricked into hypnotizing himself and to act like a chimpanzee. Mr. Barnstorm recognizes the culprit as Harry the Hypnotist. This is however not the last that we see of him. He made cameos throughout the series.

    Phantom Puppeteer

    Phantom Puppeteer

The Phantom Puppeteer was a puppet master. Using his puppets, he was capable of creating any shadow. He pretended to be a puppet show while forging money.

He employed his puppets to frighten patrons away from the Strand Theater. He threw flats and sandbags at Shaggy, Scooby, and Velma in an attempt to hurt them. Fortunately, the gang gets away unscathed.

The Mystery Inc. busted his scheme. Pietro, the master puppeteer, was so greedy that he had no qualms about injuring teenagers and a talking dog in order to keep creating money.

His over-enthusiasm in manipulating the puppets was his undoing, and it aided the gang in solving the case even faster. As a puppeteer, he was skilled enough to make himself look like the phantom.

While returning from a pizza place, Shaggy and Scooby witness a violin case full of money flying out of a van, after it hits a speed bump. Shaggy notifies the group about the incident, while Scooby guards the money, as he is suspicious of the bundle of money.

Pietro then utilises his puppeteer skills to divert Scooby’s attention away from his counterfeit money by creating the illusion of a poodle flirting with him.

Scooby tells the gang about the strange encounter. The party follows the clues to the Strand Theatre, where Pietro poses as a ticket taker to avoid suspicion. He then employs his puppeteering powers once more to frighten away the interfering children, but this only brings them closer to the truth.

He tries to injure them by attacking them with theatre props, but he fails. The gang finally captures and unmasks the phantom puppeteer as Pietro. The Mystery Inc. saves the day by sending the counterfeiter behind bars.

    The Skull Island Vampire

    The Skull Island Vampire

Lisa’s grandfather was said to be the Skull Island Vampire. Lisa’s uncle, Leon, revealed to the gang that Lisa’s grandfather was a vampire who wanted to turn her into a vampire. After each successful effort, his horrible maniacal chuckle drove shivers down one’s spine!

The gang starts calling him “Gramp the Vamp.” Lisa was hypnotised into believing she was a vampire by the true perpetrator. To make his theory more credible, he purchased bats from an exotic store. The assailant intended to put Lisa in a mental institution and then inherit her hotel.

He tried to scare Daphne by appearing in front of her, travelling down a vent, wearing a mustache less beard, yellow lenses, fangs, and pointy ears. Wearing a magenta cape over a grey tux, he disguised himself as “Gramp the Vamp”.

He tried to scare the gang often by screaming for blood out of the blue and used a special whistle to control the bats. Leon, as a villain, was vengeful and cruel. If it wasn’t for the meddling kids, he probably would have succeeded in his plans.

In the episode of Vampire bats and scaredy cats, the gang visits Lisa to celebrate her birthday. They arrive at an old hotel that Lisa will inherit when she turns eighteen. Velma discusses the reports of vampires on the island and rejects them as irrational.

Shaggy and Scooby were requested to deliver a parcel to Mr. Dracula when they arrived on the island. He needed a coffin for the undertaker’s convention, and the box turned out to be one. A bat flying out of the coffin adds to the island’s creepy atmosphere.

Daphne wakes up in the middle of the night to find a vampire standing near her. Her screams scare him away as he vanishes using the ventilation duct. Leon circulates the rumor that deems Lisa’s grandfather a vampire.

He then pretends to be “Gramp the Vamp” and chases the gang around the hotel. He uses a high-pitched bell to hypnotize Lisa into thinking she is a vampire. Velma, Fred, and Daphne discover a piece of paper with Exo 6 Desmo scribbled on it, which leads them to discover “Gramp the Vamp’s” true identity.

They jolt Lisa awake from her hypnotic slumber and devise a plot to capture “Gramp the Vamp.” Leon’s true motivations are revealed as he is unmasked. Lisa treats the gang to an abundance of hamburgers, which Scooby-Doo devours.

He was dressed in an indigo tunic and a grey cloak, his face hidden under a mask that made his face appear green. Mario, a distant descendant of Malvolio, was revealed to be the Ghostly Gondolier.

He intended to acquire all of the medallions in order to find Malvolio’s lost wealth. As soon as Daphne wore one of the medallions, he kidnapped her. He also broke into Antonio’s office and imprisoned him.
