There’s no denying that anime adaptations of light novel series have received a huge amount of support from fans. For example, the anime adaptation of “The Rising of the Shield Hero” significantly increased sales of the light novel series.
The author, Fujino Omori’s “DanMachi,” was no exception, as the series’ second anime season in 2019 significantly boosted light novel sales. In fact, when compared to other light novel series that has benefited from an anime adaptation, “DanMachi,” came out on top of others like “Sword Art Online.” This could be due to the capacity of the anime and light novel series to combine fantasy adventure with a harem comedy.
The series is set in the lively city of Orario, where life is never dull, especially for Bell Cranel, a naive young man who aspires to be the best adventurer in the land. His dreams become a little closer to reality after a fortuitous encounter with the lonely goddess Hestia.
Bell embarks on a wonderful expedition with her assistance, venturing deep into the city’s monster-infested catacombs known only as of the “Dungeon.” In the unfathomable depths of this frightening labyrinth, death lurks around every turn, and a mysterious power creeps in the shadows.
Even on the surface, survival is a hard-won privilege. In a world where gods and humans coexist and work together, nothing is ever definite, especially when they frequently clash. But one thing is certain: the dauntlessly hopeful protagonist of this tremendous narrative will face a slew of failures, successes, and friendships.
So far, three seasons of Bell’s adventures have been adapted. After the third season of the show ended in 2020, fans were treated to a special OVA episode in late April of 2021. For those who are left wanting more, there is a new season of “DanMachi,” on the way. Here’s all we know about Season 4 thus far.
Will there be a DanMachi Season 4?
DanMachi Season 4 is officially happening! We received the renewal announcement alongside a short teaser trailer in January 2022.
When’s the release date for DanMachi Season 4?
Season 4 of “DanMachi” was confirmed early this year via Crunchyroll, with a release date of 2022. DanMachi will premiere Season 4 as part of the Summer 2022 anime schedule, according to Warner Bros. Japan’s AnimeJapan 2022 lineup. Unfortunately, there is no set release date at this time, but the new episodes will premiere somewhere in July, based on the release window.
While the wait may have been longer than fans had hoped, it isn’t out of the ordinary for the series. There were a few years of waiting between the first two seasons of “DanMachi.” Season 1 of the show aired in 2015, followed by Season 2 in 2019.
Season 3 of the series was planned to debut in July 2020 during the summer anime season, but owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was pushed back to October. It would make sense if the pandemic played a role in the current Season 4 release schedule, and the recent OVA could have been a ploy to keep fans entertained in the meanwhile.
What’s the plot of DanMachi Season 4?
The plot outline for Season 4 of “DanMachi” has yet to be released. The teaser trailer does, however, give some hints as to the anime’s main focus for the forthcoming installment. The teaser showcases some of Bell’s earlier adventures throughout the series, as well as a lot of what Bell realizes he desires for himself towards the end of the third season.
The adventurer wants to grow even stronger after losing a battle against the powerful Asterius in the Season 3 finale and reconnecting with Ais for more training. We’ll surely see him on his quest to improve himself in Season 4.
Season 3 of DanMachi adapts volumes 9 through 11 of the light novel series. Volume 12 of the novels, which sets up the start of a new journey for Bell, is likely to be adapted for Season 4. Bell receives a letter for a new mission in Volume 12 after rising through the ranks and earning Orario’s respect. Thanks to Season 4, we’ll most certainly see this Bell expedition animated.
