“Darby & Joan: Season 1” is a fictional story. On Monday, August 8 2022, the first two episodes of the eight-part season one of Darby and Joan will air in the UK. The following Mondays will see the release of two new episodes. The whole box set, together with an additional “Making of” feature, will be available starting on August 29th, 2022.
According to Acorn, the relationship between Darby and Joan begins on a lonely but beautiful Australian outback road where former officer Jack Darby (Bryan Brown) is the sole passenger in his broken Landcruiser. A brazen English nurse named Joan Kirkhope (Greta Scacchi) arrives in her enormous RV from the other direction. Despite their best efforts to avoid one another, Jack eventually runs across Joan, and their journey starts.
The authors continue, “Retired Australian homicide investigator Jack Darby has hit the open road with his dog, Diesel, to escape his past, while newly bereaved English nurse Joan Kirkhope is on a personal journey to uncover the truth about her husband’s unexplained demise.”
In Queensland, the Gold Coast, Scenic Rim, Redland City, North Stradbroke Island, Mount Isa, and Cairns were used to film scenes for Darby and Joan. The setting plays a significant role in both Joan and Jack’s journeys of self-discovery and the adventures of Darby and Joan.
