Top 10 Dark Moments Of Spiderman: The Animated Series

Everyone loves Spider-Man, and the 1990s animation ‘Spiderman: The Animated Series’ was instrumental in instilling a passion for the friendly neighborhood spider in the hearts of many. It lasted five seasons and featured various noteworthy arcs from Marvel’s Spider-Man comics, including the Green Goblin, Hydro-Man, Eddie Brock’s Venom, and Man-Spider.

As you may know, Peter Parker is bitten by a radioactive spider, transforms into Spider-Man, dates Mary Jane, battles villains, and juggles his personal life with his superhero life while working as a freelance photographer.

Several episodes of the series, however, have departed from Spider-cheerful Man’s character and delved into darker topics, including deadly adversaries, unsuccessful clonings, and Spider-Man transforming into horrible creatures. It’s simple to see why Spider-Man is Marvel’s highest-grossing character, with one of the most adaptable plots.

Because Spider-origin Man’s story is the traditional tragic superhero origin story of an orphan who has to watch his beloved uncle die, seeing a melancholy Spidey isn’t as out of character as many Marvel rookies might imagine. In this video, we’ll discuss some of our favorite moments from the Spiderman: Animated Series that have gotten a bit too close to our hearts.

Before we get started with the programming, we have a tiny request for our viewers. Please consider being a Marvelous Videos subscriber. Spider-Man turns into Manspider – Spider-Man: The Animated Series [Neogenic Nightmare –  Morbius / “Enter the Punisher”/ Duel of the Hunters]

Spider-Man turns into Manspider - Spider-Man The Animated Series

Spider-Man, who is suffering from a mutant disease, seeks help from Dr. Mariah Crawford. He tells Crawford about his pain sensations, and he is pleasantly delighted when she tells him that she has produced a serum that can restore normalcy to his blood cells. But, it could also remove his spider powers. She asks him to wait until the completion of the serum but Spider-Man begins to smash through her lab, consumed by the mutation in place. In the end, he takes the serum with himself even though Crawford mentions how dangerous it may be.

Peter Parker brings the serum to the E.S.U., planning to test it on his own blood. He kept it in his locker, but he was completely unaware that Michael Morbius was watching him. The two were against one another in a neogenic competition. After analyzing the serum, Morbius believes that the formulation will strengthen a person and subsequently cause Peter to win over him. He steals some equipment from the lab for his research, under the excuse that he wants to cure the disease in his hometown.

He studies the sample with his recombination, but a vampire bat flies into it. Morbius tries to swat the bat away, but it bites him. With the effects of the serum and recombination in place, Morbius mutates into a vampirish creature after being bitten. As a result, he begins to crave blood and attacks people for it. Spider-Man tries to stop him but after finding out about it being Morbius, realizes that they were in a similar problem.

Following their individual meetings with Felicia, they battle once more. Morbius reverts to his human form when the sun rises. He is taken to the hospital but regains his consciousness, turns into a vampire, and flies away.

Peter’s illness causes him to continue to suffer pain and sprout four more arms. Aunt May senses something is awry but figures Peter is out in the end. Peter realizes that he shouldn’t have gone against the advice of Dr. Crawford and should have waited before taking the serum. After Mary Jane calls for a date, he finds himself in a tough spot and flees to avoid her.

Michael Morbius has escaped custody and is out for blood. Spider-Man is considered a criminal because he was the one who drove Morbius to the hospital and was therefore judged responsible for his disappearance. When Morbius walks outside the hospital, the media confuses him with Spider-Man. Spider-Man reaches the scene to fight Morbius, who is backed up by the Punisher. Spider-Man is immobilized but he manages to flee by webbing the Punisher. The three fall into a chase as Spider-Man chases Morbius while being chased by the Punisher.

While searching for a cure for the mutation, Morbius tries to drain Spider-plasma Man’s but is stopped. The Punisher shoots Spider-Man with a rocket launcher, sending him to crash into a warehouse. His mutation gets accelerated and he turns into a huge humanoid spider called the Man-Spider. He causes a fire in the warehouse and attacks the Punisher who manages to escape. As Dr. Crawford hears the news, she contacts Sergei Kravinoff and asks him to return to New York City to control Spider-Man.

Peter has gone missing, according to Aunt May and Mary Jane. The Punisher and the Man-Spider fight, but Sergei intervenes and fights the Punisher just as Frank Castle is about to kill Peter. Man-Spider and Morbius enter the E.S.U. but Peter leaves to save Sergei from Punisher, webbing him to a cave’s ceiling. In the end, Sergei teams up with the Punisher to take down Man-Spider. Dr. Crawford gives Peter a serum to cure his mutation disease and he goes back to normal.

Hydro Mary Jane Evaporates – Spider-Man: The Animated Series [The Return of Hydro-Man: Part 1 & 2”]

Hydro Mary Jane Evaporates - Spider-Man The Animated Series

For a postponed honeymoon celebration, Mary Jane and Peter travel to Niagara Falls. Peter is concerned because MJ is having nightmares. The two board the boat and share a sweet moment of romance but Peter’s spider senses sense some danger.

When Peter is attacked by Hydro-Man, MJ is stunned to see him vanish into nothing. He tries to seduce MJ once more, wanting to claim her for himself, and he defeats Spider-Man. Hydro-Man flees with her to New York and Peter chases after them.

Peter arrives in New York and explores every water-based site for Mary Jane, but she is nowhere to be found.

Terri Lee requests Peter not to intervene while the police investigate Mary Jane’s disappearance. Felicia begs Peter not to give up and, after transforming into the Black Cat, goes on her own search for Mary Jane.

Spider-Man grabs a sample from Terri Lee and analyses it himself to determine Mary Jane’s location. Peter recognizes where Mary Jane has been taken when he notices raw hydrocarbons. He goes to an oil drill and finds them. The Black Cat catches up to Spider-Man.

Mary Jane is pursued by Hydro-Man, but Spider-Man arrives just in time and kicks him into the water. The two then start fighting. Spider-Man freezes Hydro-Man with his web fluid and takes the opportunity to get Mary Jane to safety but Hydro-Man breaks out of it soon. He then gets Spider-Man trapped in the steel structures and breaks the fortress. Black Cat saves Spider-Man from being electrocuted but Hydro-Man had already escaped in the meantime.

Mary Jane is apprehended after stealing a boat and arriving on land with it. The police station is attacked by Hydro-Man, and MJ flees. She uses chemicals from a storeroom to send out red fumes for Peter to track her down. Spider-Man and Black Cat arrive and fight Hydro-Man.

Hydro-Man uses his water arms as a drill to kill Spider-Man, but it turns out Mary Jane has the same abilities as him, and she uses her newfound hydro ability to knock him away from Peter. Terri Lee, who is investigating the situation, is the person she goes to.

Peter takes MJ to Dr. Curt Connors, who uses hypnosis to try to discover MJ’s buried memories of the powers. She sees the same events as the nightmare that has been bothering her, in which she drowns, is chased by an eye, faces a clown, and ends up on a pirate ship during hypnosis.

Miles Warren offers to test Hydro-Man because he has difficulty rematerializing, but he declines and instead spies on Aunt May. He then uses the intel from Aunt May’s phone conversation to find Peter and MJ and attacks them. She materializes into the water against her will and Peter realizes he has to decode her dream if he wants to save her.

He visits a theme restaurant while imagining a pirate ship, where the receptionist is a character from her fantasy. When Peter Parker speaks with him, he comes to a realization. He tracks down the wedding dress image to a wedding cake and the clown to a toy shop. He finds a clown toy when a robot with laser eyes attacks him. He then finds a tunnel and correlates the light at the end to the eye.

MJ is transported to a lab that she is familiar with from her dream. Spider-Man enters the lab and launches an attack on Hydro-Man. Mary Jane begins to attack as well but cannot go on longer. Miles Warren appears and Spider-Man mentions how his cloning experiments were banned. The scientist talks about the Hydro-Man here as just a clone and in the end, reveals how Mary Jane is also a clone, made for Hydro-Man from a sample of her hair and a drop from Hydro-Man himself.

Hydro-Man begins to devastate the area before dissipating. MJ is in a similar situation. Peter is distraught but she tells him that Mary Jane loves Peter a lot. She evaporates while Warren gets a sample from Spider-Man’s suit to clone.

When Spider-Man meets Madame Web, she informs him that she knows where Mary Jane is. She then transports him to another dimension.

Spider-Man Almost Kills Shocker - Spider-Man The Animated Series

Promethium X, a fissionable substance, is discovered by astronauts Paul Stevenson and John Jameson. They also unintentionally pick up a fluid alien life form. While landing at the JFK Airport, the alien attacks them and they crash into the George Washington Bridge. Rhino is sent by Kingpin to retrieve the new material, Promethium X.

When Spider-Man arrives to save the day, he is attacked by Rhino, who eventually retreats. Eddie Brock is present throughout the incident but reports to J. for purposes of spicier journalism. Spider-Man robbed the shuttle, according to Jonah Jameson. Meanwhile, the black fluid sticks to the Spider-suit while Parker is oblivious to a one million dollar bounty being attached to his head.

The black fluid attaches itself to Peter while he sleeps, and when he wakes up, he is atop a skyscraper, wearing a black Spider-suit. People try to apprehend him for the million-dollar reward, but Peter realizes that the black suit has enhanced his abilities. He tracks down Rhino and manages to overpower Rhino with his enhanced powers. He almost kills Rhino but realizes that the costume had also increased his aggression, so he stops himself. Meanwhile, the Kingpin had already gotten his hands on the Promethium X, thanks to Rhino.

Peter realizes that, despite its strength, the black suit has a flaw, which happens to be a loud noise. Simultaneously, Jameson uncovers Eddie Brock’s deception concerning Rhino’s absence during the shuttle robbery. He calls off the bounty on Spider-Man and prompts to fire Eddie.

When Kingpin learns that Jameson has canceled the bounty, he sent Shocker to assassinate Eddie Brock so that no one can link the robbery to him.

Dr. Connors examines Peter’s new black suit and learns that it is a symbiote, a type of living organism that attaches itself to a host in order to survive. He wants Spider-Man to take it away because the symbiote will take the place of the host, but Peter is hesitant because of the benefits.

Shocker and Brock collide, but Spider-Man intervenes to assist Brock in escaping. Shocker also runs, but Spider-Man is able to obtain the Promethium-X. He brings it home and examines it, making a fascinating discovery.

As per Kingpin’s orders, Smythe planned to have Shocker kidnap John Jameson and keep him for ransom in exchange for the Promethium-X. Spider-Man fights Shocker and nearly kills him, but in the end, he saves him from a fatal fall by using his web. Brock interferes and gets webbed in the process. As the church bell rings, Spider-Man separates himself from the symbiote using the intense sound. It leaves his body and slithers into the floor cracks. It ends up bonding with Eddie Brock.

Shocker and Rhino ambush Spider-Man, and he is subsequently buried beneath a pile of rubble. Venom, a symbiote-infused Eddie Brock, however, arrives on the scene, webs them up, fights Spider-Man, unmasks him, and threatens to divulge his identity for vengeance. Spider-Man flees but Venom follows suit.

In the end, Spider-Man entices Venom to launch a space probe onto John Jameson’s launch site. Spider-weapon Man’s in the fight is the nose from it firing off forces, which he utilises to separate Brock from the symbiote. He webs it to the probe and sends it back to outer space.

He learns about how Mordo guided the probe with the symbiote back to Earth and orders Eddie to infiltrate Stark Enterprises and retrieve the inter-dimensional probe.

Dormammu’s orders are carried out, and Venom intervenes during the demonstration. He attempted to steal the inter-dimensional probe, but was thwarted by the appearance of Spider-Man and War Machine. They engage in a fight and Dormammu begins to worry that Venom will fail at securing the inter-dimensional probe. Turns out, there was another symbiote in outer space as this one had reproduced. He takes it to Ravencroft by hypnotizing the temporary host. The symbiote meets Kasady and Mordo offers the former another symbiote, as Kasady wanted this extra-terrestrial power. The armored Spider-Man gets too overconfident and is sent back to Madame Web by the Green Goblin.
