The manga is written by KoyoharuGotouge. The manga was published in Weekly Shonen Jump, which is managed by Shueisha. It became the ninth best-selling manga. The publication continued for a span of four years, starting from 2016 to 2020. There is a total of 23 volumes.
The gaining popularity of the manga series led to the publication of the manga in English by Viz Media. Two seasons of the anime adaptation have been released. Season one followed 26 episodes and won the hearts of the fans. It aired in April and continued up to September 2019. The second season or Mugen Train arc was released between October 2021 to February 2022, consisting of a total of six episodes. A third season is also to be followed. The third season is known as the Swordsmith Village arc.
The manga series is very popular in Japan and an anime adaptation for the same has followed. Another arc of the series is about to be released. Before it’s the final release, let’s have a look at what has already happened in the series.
The plot revolves around Tanjiro Kamado, a teenager whose ambition is to become a demon slayer. He loses his family to the demons and his younger sister was converted to a demon. Seeking vengeance he decides to become a demon slayer. Before conversion all demons were humans.
Being injected with the blood of Muzen, the humans were converted into demons and acquired extra strength and abilities. Demon slayers are normal humans who train in order to kill the demons. However, as it was revealed, the demons could only be killed with a special weapon made up of an alloy- Sun steel, polished with the poison of a flower called Wisteria, along with exposing it to sunlight.
Tanjiro trains in order to become a demon slayer. He qualifies for the Demon Slayer Corps. Though being converted into a demon, Nezuko possessed human consciousness and joined his brother in the task of hunting demons. He also encounters Muzan. Allying with Tamayo, he proceeds to find a cure for his sister.
Though the Demon Slayer Corps show their defense, arguing that Nezuko has no right to live. Siding with Zenitsu and InsoukeHashibira, he continues to face more vicious demons. Tanjiro along with his friends fight many battles against Kizuki, but none of them was successful. As the Corps battles against the Muzan, all their forces were deployed and a fierce battle takes place. Ultimately, as the dawn comes, the sun kills him.
Will there be a season third of the Demon Slayer?
Yes, a third season has been confirmed. The Ufotable which looked after the production of the other two seasons confirmed the news. The group announced on Twitter and also uploaded a 30-second teaser along with other images from the in-between scenes of the Swordsmith Village Arc. The news was confirmed through a tweet posted on February 13, 2022.
When will season third is set to release?
No fixed date is yet declared. Seeing the previous releases, the season third will probably release at the start of the upcoming year, that is in 2023. A teaser has been released, but no trailer is yet available.
What will follow the plot of season third or Swordsmith Village arc?
We saw a fierce battle that took place between Tanjiro, Hahira, other corps, and Muzan. Morning sunlight was used to kill the demon, but as he was dying he transferred his demon powers to the wounded Tanjiro, making him a demon and safeguarding his species. This was indeed a major plot twist for the audience.
Though as the plot continues, he is again turned into a human with the help of Nezuko and his friends. In the battle which took place, Muzan dies, giving a happy ending. Tanjiro and Nezuko finally go back to their home. Zenitsu and Insouke also join them.
However, the Swordsmith arc is expected to follow a different plot from all the battles which took place in the other two seasons. Our main lead will visit the Swordsmith village in order to get his blade repaired. He runs into Mitsuri and learns from her that a secret weapon is placed hidden in the village. The quest for it begins as Tanjiro attracts the attention of other demons.
