Dune, directed by Denis Villeneuve, will have its international premiere at the Venice Film Festival on September 3rd, 2021, about a month before its theatrical release in the United States. The news was accompanied by a new image from the film.The widely anticipated big-screen adaptation of Frank Herbert’s ground-breaking science-fiction bestseller of the same name, Dune, is presented by Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures.
Dune is a mythic and emotionally packed hero’s journey about Paul Atreides, a clever and gifted young man born into a tremendous destiny beyond his comprehension who must travel to the universe’s most perilous planet to preserve the future of his family and people. Only those who can overcome their fear will live as sinister powers clash over the planet’s unique supply of the most valuable resource in existence—a commodity capable of unlocking humanity’s highest potential.

Along with Charlotte Rampling, Jason Momoa, and Javier Bardem, the picture stars TimothéeChalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, StellanSkarsgrd, Dave Bautista, Sharon Duncan Brewster, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Zendaya, Chang Chen, and David Dastmalchian.
Following the success of films like Joker, A Star Is Born, and Gravity, which all went on to global box office success and award glory, this is the latest in a long line of important Warner Bros. titles to premiere in Venice. Villeneuve previously appeared on the Lido in 2016 with Paramount’s Oscar-winning box office smash Arrival.
