British director, producer, screenwriter, and editor Neil Marshall has done some phenomenal work in the horror genre with his works like Tales of Halloween, Dog Soldiers, and The Descent. Now, his brand-new film is in the works, and it is titled ‘The Lair.’ Marshall has confirmed that it is a “full-on monster movie.” After taking a brief break from the horror genre, he is again back thanks to his 2020 film The Reckoning. However, even with that film, he did not go all out regarding the scare-factor he feels. So with this new film, he wishes to make a proper comeback through the use of creature features while combining movies like Dog Soldiers and not holding back on the gore, action, and horror.
The details that are available about the film till now
The Lair is set to begin shooting in May as the team is still working on putting together a financial plan for it. Marshall himself has also written and produced the film, and it tells the story of a Royal Air Force pilot who unknowingly brings with him a monster to the US Army base while trying to escape from it in the Afghanistan bunker he was stuck in. While stuck, he realises that these creatures are man-made and were created to be used as biological weapons against the human race. On entering American soil, the soldiers must find a way to save the country and the world from this horrific monster.
Comparing The Lair to his previous release, The Reckoning, Marshall states that the latter was more of a gothic drama, but the former is undoubtedly going to be his actual return to the genre. He has also stated that, he took inspiration from films like The Predator and The Thing in terms of FX. AFM is selling the Lair for Highland Film Group.
