Dr. Stone Season 3 – Everything We Know So Far

‘Dr. Stone’ season 2 aired its final episode in March 2021, but fans can rest assured that more adventures await for their favourite anime characters in the future.

‘Dr. Stone’ is an adventure, Sci-Fi comedy anime based on a manga series written by Riichiro Inagaki and illustrated by the South Korean artist Boichi.

In the world of anime, Dr. Stone is one of the newest heroes to come on the scene and win over fans’ hearts.

Thousands of years after a mysterious event turns nearly all of humanity to stone, “Dr. Stone” takes place. One day, a genius teenager named Senku is resurrected. His old friend, Taiju, soon follows suit, and when they’re not fending for their lives against lions and poisonous gases, they work on a plan to revive the rest of humanity.

When the plot is so compelling, it doesn’t matter if the science doesn’t always make sense. Over the last two seasons, many mysteries have been left hanging in the air, but thankfully more are expected to be revealed in Season 3, which has been officially confirmed via a new trailer. We expect to see a full trailer soon with an official release date.

Here are some things to look forward to in Season 3.

When will Dr. Stone Season 3 be released?

When will Dr. Stone Season 3 be released

In the summer of 2019, Season 1 of “Dr. Stone” premiered. A year and a half later, Season 2 premiered in early 2021.

And, Season 3 is confirmed to be released in 2023, when in 2023, we’re not sure yet. On December 16, 2021, the Weekly Shonen Jump news leaked out, confirming that the new Dr. Sone Season 3 anime will start its broadcast sometime in 2023. This information received an official confirmation during Jump Festa 2022 on December 19, 2021. The big surprise was that a Dr. Stone OVA episode will be released in 2022.

While we’re waiting on the third season, a 2022 Dr. Stone TV special called “Dr. STONE Ryusui” will be released in Summer 2022. The special will focus on the new character Ryusui Nanami. The episode will be an original story that acts as an interlude by connecting Seasons 2 and 3.

The third season was confirmed to be in production by the final episode of the second season. It’s highly unlikely that a Dr. Stone movie will be produced any time soon due to the progression of the manga’s next story arcs. The official title for the third season has not been announced yet. Considering that the second season was called Dr. Sone: Stone Wars, it’s likely that the third season’s title will be named after Source of the Petrification, Age of Exploration, or Treasure Island.

What will be the plot for Dr. Stone Season 3?

What will be the plot for Dr. Stone Season 3

Upon watching the “Dr. Stone” Season 3 trailer, you might think that you stumbled across some lost episode of “One Piece,” but rest assured, the tease was merely announcing that Senku and his comrades would go on a seafaring adventure next.

The anime will follow the manga’s lead and adopt the “Age of Exploration” arc next. It is at this point that they build the ship Perseus and sail around the world, investigating what exactly turned humanity into stone. In the process, they come up with plenty more inventions to help humanity get back on track.

At this point, the manga has been ongoing since 2017 and shows no sign of slowing down any time soon.

Although “Dr. Stone” may not last forever like some other anime, we’re willing to bet Season 3 won’t be the end.
