Elmer Fudd is back to firing at Bugs Bunny with his hunting rifle in the new season of Looney Tunes Cartoons after losing his guns in last year’s Looney Tunes Cartoons.
Looney Tunes Cartoons returned on HBO Max this week for a new season. For better or worse, the decision was taken to return Mr. Fudd’s guns, and he didn’t waste any time in putting them to good use. Elmer Fudd returns to his roots in the season’s sixth episode’s “Rotund Rabbit” segment, chasing Bugs Bunny with his old hunting gun. He fires a shot at Bugs, but the bullet stops in mid-air due to Bugs’ speed, and he declares, “That’s it, I quit!” After that, the bullet dons a cap and rushes out with its briefcase.

Bugs Bunny needs to be extra cautious because his longstanding foe Elmer Fudd is back in town. Last year, HBO Max broadcasted the revived series Looney Tunes Cartoons, which continued the feud between the hard to catch rabbit and the determined rabbit hunter. Both Elmer Fudd and Yosemite Sam had their guns taken away for the first season of the Looney Tunes revival due to worries about cartoon characters wielding firearms in children’s programming.
With the release of new Looney Tunes cartoons, now add firearms to the mix! Pete Browngardt, the show’s executive producer, posted a video clip of the scenario in question.
This could be good news for Pepe Le Pew fans who were disappointed when the cartoon skunk was removed from Space Jam: A New Legacy. The decision had sparked outrage. The overwhelmingly unfavourable reaction to the Pepe Le Pew predicament may persuade the powers that be to bring the contentious skunk back in a future Looney Tunes effort.
On HBO Max, fresh episodes of Looney Tunes Cartoons, now containing guns, are currently streaming alongside the first season.
