Directed by John Woo, Face/Off is an action film that stars John Travolta and Nicholas Cage. Michael Colleary and Mike Werb wrote the film’s script and it tells the story of Archer, an FBI agent who is trying to pursue Troy, a terrorist. When an almost fatal plane crash sends Troy into a coma, Archer uses a face transplant to wear Troy’s face to get some information about the next bombing. However, things go sideways when Troy awakens from his coma and starts threatening the surgeon to give him Archer’s face. A new Face/Off film has been in the works for a while now, and Godzilla vs. Kong director Adam Wingard will be the one to direct it along with Simon Barrett, with who he frequently collaborates with.
Wingard and Barrett have toiled throughout the lockdown
Wingard confirmed just yesterday that the script for Face/Off II, a direct sequel to the original film, is almost complete. In conversation with IGN, he mentioned that he and Simon worked on this film as their primary project during the lockdown which means that if this film is as good as the previous one, we would have COVID-19 to thank for it! Although it is possible that the film ay have a different title altogether, Face/Off II is the current working title, and there is no further news on any other names for the film or about Travolta and Cage returning.
