Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest Anime – Everything We Know So Far

Fairy Tail fans will be ecstatic to learn of the announcement of a new anime series based on the spin-off manga 100 Years Quest!

Fans of the hugely famous ‘Fairy Tail’ franchise might have been a little pessimistic at the start of 2021. Things began to look up when Mashima’s spiritual successor project, ‘Edens Zero,’ was released in the Spring, bringing the series back to life.

Almost three years after the Fairy Tail anime series ended, we finally have confirmation that we will be returning to Earth Land with a new title based on the 100 Years Quest spin-off manga!

A sequel to Fairy Tail, Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest is a Japanese manga series written by Hiro Mashima.

The series debuted in July 2018, and as of this writing, 11 volumes have been published in Japan, with 103 individual chapters. The manga is available in English on Kodansha’s American website. However, the print and e-book copies of the series are available through a variety of online retailers.

WHAT IS 100 YEARS QUEST ABOUT

The 100-Year Quest is a mission so difficult and dangerous than it has stayed unfinished for more than a century. Countless wizards have attempted to take on this difficult task, but their efforts have always ended in overwhelming defeat or worse. Despite this, Natsu Dragneel and his companions—Lucy Heartfilia, Gray Fullbuster, Erza Scarlet, and Wendy Marvell, as well as the exceed Happily and Charlés—set out on the mission with zeal.

A year after the Fairy Tail guild defeated the diabolical forces of Acnologia and Zeref, Natsu and his team travel to Guiltina’s northern continent to find the 100 Years Quest’s employer and learn of their nearly impossible mission: to seal away the Five Dragon Gods—a group of individuals with such vast power that, if left alone, could cause global devastation. Meanwhile, Touka, a lively new member of Fairy Tail, is recruited. Despite the fact that her vivid energy and passionate nature make her ideal for the guild, she appears to be more than meets the eye.

Natsu and his friends go on a perilous search for the Dragon Gods, determined to complete their seemingly impossible mission. However, Natsu and his team will discover that the 100 Years Quest isn’t the only challenge they face after meeting a new dark guild named Diabolos and the newest recruit of Fairy Tail, revealing her true colors.

On September 11th, 2021, a fan meeting with Hiro Mashima took place in Japan, and the 100 Years Quest anime adaptation was formally confirmed during the live stream. Unfortunately, little information about the anime spin-off has been released, although fans can expect A-1 Pictures, who worked on the OVA and original releases, to create the series.

WHAT DATE WILL 100 YEARS QUEST RELEASED?

WHAT DATE WILL 100 YEARS QUEST RELEASED

Mashima has not specified a release date for the anime version of Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest, but we can make some guesses based on the production of another one of his works, Edens Zero.

Edens Zero premiered on Japanese television networks in April 2021 after being announced publicly in June 2020. If 100 Years Quest follows a similar production schedule, fans could see a return to Earth Land on the Summer anime schedule as early as July 2022.

The only possible snag is the animation studios, which are most likely to be A-1 Productions or Satellite Studios, both of whom have worked on previous anime in the franchise. The problem is that both of these companies may put other projects first, such as Sword Art Online and Sakugan.
