Fangoria and Shudder have announced the presenters at the 2021 Fangoria Chainsaw Awards. On 18thApril at 8 pm ET/5 pm PT exclusively on AMC Networks, Shudder’s premium streaming service for a horror thriller, horror, and the supernatural is premiering Sunday. The ceremony identifies outstanding accomplishments in horror film and television. The actor and writer David Dastmalchian (Ant-Man and the Wasp) will host the ceremony. It will feature Keith David (The Thing), Jame Lee Curtis (Halloween), Gigi Saul Guerrero (director of Culture Shock), Kevin Smith (Clerks), Issa Lopez (director of Tigers Are Not Afraid), Tananarive Due (Horror Noire: A History of Black Horror), Blumhouse CEO and founder Jason Blum, Doug Jones (The Shape of Water), James Jude Courtney (Halloween), and drag artist and The Boulet Brothers’ Dragula season two winner Biqtch Puddin’ willbe the presenters. The nominated films are Freaky, The Invisible Man, Host and Possessor, The Dark and the Wicked, and actors Kathryn Newton, Vince Vaughn, Elisabeth Moss Clancy Brown.
The ceremony will be virtual
The ceremony of this year will be filmed and hosted virtually with pre-and post-show on social media. The ceremonies will premier entirely on the “Shudder TV” feed. It will be available on Shudder’s TV and mobile apps and also online at Shudder.com. The ceremony will be airing concurrently in Canada, the US, UK, Australia, Ireland, and New Zealand. It is the first time the Chainsaw Awards is televised globally. The ceremony will also be available via Fangioria’s online and social platforms after the Shudder premiere.
The history of the ceremony
Since 1992, the Chainsaw Awards have privileged top accomplishments in the horror type, with past receivers including Sam Raimi, Jonathan Demme, Robert Eggers, George Romero, and Toni Collette. Abhi Goel, Tara Ansley, Phil Nobile Jr. are the award ceremony’s executive producers, and Rebekah McKendry and Armen Aghaeian produce it.
