When Is Good Grief: Season 2 (2022) Releasing?

The New Zealand comedy Good Grief will air on IFC and Sundance Now, which bought the rights from sisters Eve and Grace Palmer for North America and the United Kingdom. Additionally, Brown Sugar Apple Grunt Productions Ltd., managed by Kiel McNaughton and Kerry Warkia, has partnered with IFC and Sundance Now to co-commission a second season.

Later this summer, Good Grief is returning to the United States. Beginning next month, IFC and Sundance Now will begin airing the second season of the New Zealand comedy series. There are six instalments. The show, which centres on two sisters who are radically different from one another, is starred by Eve and Grace Palmer. When their deceased grandpa gives them his funeral home, the couple’s lives are changed. In a news release, IFC provided further information about the show.

The irreverent New Zealand comedy Good Grief’s second season will debut in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom on Thursday, August 4, as a binge release on Sundance Now, before making its North American two-episode broadcast premiere on IFC starting on Wednesday, August 17.

The six-episode comedy series, which was co-created, co-written, and stars Eve and Grace Palmer as well as co-creator/co-writer Nick Schaedel, is set in a small New Zealand town and centres on two millennial sisters who have very different personalities and who inherit a funeral home from their grandfather.

Ellie (Eve Palmer) and Gwen Goode (Grace Palmer, Adrift), who both inherited the Loving Tributes funeral home in Season 1, have taken quite different directions since then. Ellie embraces her inner “girlboss,” along with the ill-fitting pantsuits, amateur TV commercials, and liaisons with plumbers that go along with it. Gwen, meantime, spends five months DJing in Bali before abruptly showing up in New Zealand to find that their mother has been expelled from the family home and has a new lover. Gwen moves in with Ellie, starts working as Loving Tributes’ social media manager, and launches a crude prank war against their mother’s new boyfriend. Ellie must choose whether to step in and diffuse the situation or leave Gwen to mature on her own as family conflicts at home and at work worsen.

The Legend of Baron To’a and My Life is Murder director Kiel McNaughton (Good Grief, Season 2) and producers Angela Cudd (I Am Waru) and Kerry Warkia (Good Grief, Season 2) (Vai, Waru). The comedy series Good Grief, which was co-created, co-written, and features the Palmer sisters as well as co-creator and co-writer Nick Schaedel, is set in a tiny New Zealand village and centres on two millennial sisters who inherit a funeral home from their grandpa.

Ellie and Gwen Goode (Eve and Grace Palmer), who are unsure what to do with the funeral house or the eccentric crew that keep the facility operating, are thrown into a world of embalming, emceeing, and shame. Ellie, who was just sacked from her teaching position, begins to get used to the work, while Gwen only wants to go DJ in Bali. Ellie and Gwen start to confront the realities of their own lives and the choices they wish to make as a result of daily exposure to death.

The North American broadcast premiere of Good Grief will air on IFC beginning on October 4 after its September 30 Sundance Now debut in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. Later this year, in Auckland, Season 2 will begin filming. It will include six episodes, each of which will be lengthened to 20 minutes, and it will debut in 2022.

Angela Cudd produced the first season of Good Grief (I Am Waru) and Kerry Warkia under the direction of Kiel McNaughton (The Legend of Baron To’a, My Life is Murder) (Vai, Waru). The creative staff and lead cast from Season 1 will also return for Season 2. Dan McDermott, head of original programming, AMC Networks, stated, “Good Grief is a unique and quirky comedy that we’re pleased to introduce to fans on both Sundance Now and IFC.” We fell so in love with the Goode sisters after viewing the first season that we leaped at the chance to work with Eve, Grace, Nick, Kiel, and Kerry to commission more adventures with them.

“We’re pleased to be partnering with AMC Networks to deliver our tiny Kiwi comedy to an international audience,” Eve and Grace Palmer continued. We hope that while you see this dark comedy about life and death, you’ll be able to laugh and weep at the same time since it’s said that “if you don’t laugh, you’ll cry.”

Kiel McNaughton of Brown Sugar Apple Grunt Productions said, “We are over the moon to be teaming with AMC Networks to deliver more distinctive and underrepresented perspectives to viewers across the world.” “We are eagerly anticipating the start of season 2.”
