Folks, start forming those salt rings. The Sanderson Sisters will soon be back in Salem, much to Thackery Binx’s dismay, and this time we won’t have to wait for a virgin to ignite the Blake Flame Candle.
Hocus Pocus 2 will be arriving on Disney+ in time for All Hallow’s Eve in 2022, as we joyfully learned last year. It was definitely an easy decision for Disney to develop a sequel because the 1993 cult classic movie is widely regarded as one of the finest Halloween movies of all time. But the major issue is: When Winifred Sanderson casts a spell over everyone, what will happen this time?
Disney said in May that Hocus Pocus 2 would debut on Disney+ on September 30. The announcement was made at the Disney Upfronts, which also included some preliminary clips of the film that would be available on streaming services in the autumn.
According to Disney, the following actors have been cast in Hocus Pocus 2:
Becca, a high school girl involved in the Sanderson sisters’ universe, will be portrayed by Whitney Peak.
Cassie, one of Becca’s pals who is attempting to prevent the Sanderson sisters from wreaking mayhem, will be played by Lilia Buckingham.
Izzy, another one of Becca’s pals involved in trying to thwart the Sanderson sisters from seizing control of Salem, will be played by Belissa Escobedo.
From the 1993 movie, Doug Jones will reprise his role as Billy Butcherson, an ex-boyfriend Winifred poisoned in 1693. He is currently acting like a… zombie?
Jefry Traske, the mayor of modern-day Salem, will be portrayed by Tony Hale.
Gilbert, the proprietor of a shop named the Olde Salem Magic Shoppe, will be portrayed by Sam Richardson.
Hannah Waddingham will portray the terrifying new figure known only as the Witch.
In Juju Brene’s role, Sarah Sanderson will be younger.
A young Winifred Sanderson will be portrayed by Taylor Henderson.
In her role as a young Mary Sanderson, Nina Kitchen
Mike, Cassie’s boyfriend who also mistreats Becca, will be portrayed by Froy Gutierrez.
As the Sanderson Sisters in the follow-up, Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy have all inked contracts to return. We are excited to see them again, even if it is unclear how they will be able to return and terrorize Salem once again after disintegrating into dust.
