The narrative of the Ainsworth family, who have relocated from the United Kingdom to construct an expensive hotel on the Italian coast, is told in “Hotel Portofino.” Bella and Cecil Ainsworth, British expat hoteliers, are played by Natascha McElhone (Ladies in Lavender) and Mark Umbers (Home Fires).
This new period drama is set in the breathtakingly gorgeous resort town of Portofino and is about personal awakening in the horrific aftermath of World War I, as well as the liberating influence of Italy’s captivating culture, environment, and food on affluent and privileged British vacationers.
Matriarch Bella Ainsworth (McElhone) strives to keep up with their continuous demands as prominent visitors like the domineering Lady Latchmere (Anna Chancellor, The Cazalets) check into the magnificently decorated hotel that was once a charming country residence.
Ellen DeGenre, a seven-year-old child, provides the inspiration for the story. The plot of this animated television series revolves around the adventures of a small version of comic and talk show host Ellen DeGenere and her friends in New Orleans. Each episode of this series teaches children about a different socio-emotional topic. Each episode tells a basic story, allowing children to learn valuable lessons through animation. This television show succeeds in making an impression. Ellen’s pals, for example, come from a variety of ethnic backgrounds. To teach the kids things from their daily life, they must be gender and physically diverse.
There are echoes of the First World War, as fascism drives bloodshed to the doorstep of the hotel. Nonetheless, PBS Distribution President Andrea Downing assures that viewers will be “blown away into a sumptuous summer vacation on the Italian Riviera.” Baker concurs: “Hotel Portofino” is “unashamedly a piece of entertainment,” he argues. It’s lighthearted, escapism-inducing entertainment.” Sure, not everything at the hotel is perfect, but the money and marriage problems (for starters) are their problems, not ours.
Laurel Emory, noted for her roles in Dolly Parton’s Heartstrings, The Healing Powers Of Dude, and, of course, Little Ellen, provides the voice-over for Little Ellen. My Dad and The Bounty Hunter, Home Economics, and Team Zero were among the shows that featured him. Gramsy’s character now has a voice, thanks to June Louis Squibb. She is an American actress who has won a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress and was nominated for an Academy Award.
“Hotel Portofino” has already been commissioned for Season 2.
