In/Spectre Season 2 – Everything We Know So Far

The immensely popular anime film “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Train” was added to Crunchyroll, one of the top places for streaming anime online, in early October 2021. The film “Mugen Train” is now one of a slew of popular anime titles available on the streaming service, which also includes megahits like “Naruto” and “One Piece.” Crunchyroll has also started producing original anime in recent years, in addition to these and other licensed offerings.

In February 2020, the service announced the premiere of its first eight original series, which included the Korean WEBTOON adaption “Tower of God,” post-apocalyptic “FreakAngels,” and fantasy romance series “In/Spectre.”

“In/Spectre” Season 1 has a total of twelve episodes. A second season of the show has been confirmed and is on the way, despite the lack of information currently accessible. Here’s everything we know thus far about Season 2 of “In/Spectre.”

When will In/Spectre Season 2 be released?

In November 2020, Crunchyroll announced a second season of “In/Spectre” in a blog post. In addition to a preview for the season, the announcement features reactions to the series’ renewal from the creator of its written source material, the author of its manga adaptation, and one of its major voice actors. The trailer, rather than showcasing moments from Season 2, is mostly a recap of Season 1. It’s only the narration that’s new, which recounts some of the first season’s main events.

The trailer ends with a declaration that Season 2 is in the works. The official Twitter account for the In/Spectre anime recently shared a new key visual for season 2 earlier this month, as well as the launch date of October 2022 and new cast members. Yuki-Onna, one of the new characters, appears in the new visual alongside Kotoko.

The protagonist of “In/Spectre” is Kotoko Iwanaga. Kotoko was kidnapped by yokai when she was 11 years old, and they live in a type of self-contained society within the series fiction. Yokai are a type of monstrous spirit that can be found in real-life Japanese mythology, such as the turtle-like Kappa and the long-nosed Tengu.

Kotoko was chosen as the “Goddess of Wisdom” by yokai society as a child, working as a sort of yokai representative in the human realm. However, while this grants her elevated status among yokai, it came at the cost of an eye and a leg.

Kuro Sakuragawa, another young adult with yokai ties, stands opposite Kotoko. While Kotoko is privileged within yokai society,  Kuro is dreaded within yokai society as a result of an episode from his childhood in which his grandmother fed him yokai flesh. He does, however, gain a range of superpowers from the yokai he ate, including the power to see into the future and the ability to heal nearly any injury to his person.

What can we expect from the plot of In/Spectre Season 2?

What can we expect from the plot of In Spectre Season 2

The plot of “In/Spectre” is centered on two main sources of plot tension: Kotoko and Kuro’s engagement in the Yokai world and their blossoming romance. The fact that Kotoko and Kuro are officially a couple rather than just courting one other as of the end of Season 1 is the most significant event in the latter narrative that will influence Season 2.

In light of the fact that the first season was based on author Kyo Shirodaira’s first volume in the light novel series, much, if not all, of the content in Season 2 is likely to be drawn from the second “In/Spectre” light novel. The source material was well-adapted by Brain Base. The anime closely resembles its parental content.

In the light of the novel series’ second volume, Kotoko and Kuro investigate a mystery in Totomizu, a seaside tourist spot. Furthermore, Kuro’s cousin Rikka continues to be a hostile presence, as she did in Season 1. More information about the plot of “In/Spectre” Season 2, as well as how it may resemble or deviate from the light novel series, should be released in the months leading up to its release.
