Eight more cast members have been unveiled for Olivier Assayas’ upcoming HBO show. In Irma Vep, a disillusioned actress travels to France to star in a remake of the French classic Les Vampires. During filming, however, she begins to lose herself as the parallels between her role and herself begin to blur and confuse her.
Eight additional cast members join Alicia Vikander, the already revealed lead and Academy Award winner: Vincent Macaigne (The Innocents), Jeanne Balibar (2019’s Les Miserables), Lars Eidinger (High Life), Vincent Lacoste (Sorry Angel), Hippolyte Girardot (The French Dispatch), Alex Descas (The Limits of Control), Nora Hamzawi (Non-Fiction), and Antoine Reinartz (BPM – Beats Per Minute) have all been cast in the upcoming series.
The new cast members portray members of the French remake’s cast and crew, and if that seems confused, it’s precisely the type of hazy line that director and screenwriter Assayas enjoys exploring, as in his critically praised film Clouds of Sils Maria. The borders get even more blurred when you consider that the production is a remake of the 1996 Asayas film Irma Vep, which starred Maggie Cheung as a version of herself.
Kristen Stewart, who has starred in two of Assayas’ films, is also joining the cast, albeit in a supposedly “minor part.” Adria Arjona (6 Underground), Jerrod Carmichael (Transformers: The Last Knight), Carrie Brownstein (Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far on Foot), Fala Chen (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings), and Devon Ross (The Mermaid’s Daughter) were among the five actors announced shortly after, making Irma Vep officially a star-studded series with a surprisingly diverse cast.

HBO Max will start in India with three options, the most basic of which will be dubbed “Ad-supported.” The most basic package would cost Rs 69, which appears to be rather reasonable.

According to the source, HBO Max would allow customers to establish five profiles per account, with all plans supporting Dolby Atmos sound. Localization, including subtitles in local Indian languages, is expected for Indian users. A specialized Kids profile, as well as a customized home screen feature, will be available.
