    Bird was born on 1st October 1997 in Hexham, Northumberland, England. Bird moved to London when she was 2, with her family. At 5, she lived on a military base located in Germany. After her parents divorced, Bird moved to South Wales with her mother at 7/8 years of age. It was during this time that Bird had first started writing songs. At 16, she attended the BRIT School and graduated from there in 2016. While she was still at BRIT School, Bird would perform at a number of concerts, sometimes even several times in a week.

    When Bird was still in her final year at BRIT, she recorded some demo tracks in her friend’s bathroom that would eventually end up getting her a management deal. After the deal, she signed on with Glassnote Records. In 2017, she went on a tour to the United States with Brent Cobb. She won the ANCHOR award in 2017 at Hamburg. 2017 was indeed a significant year for Bird as she recorded her debut EP titled Something American.

    The EP received much appreciation from critics including Stephanie Penman calling it a ‘musical masterpiece’. Towards the end of the year, Bird appeared as a finalist in the BBC Sound of award for 2018. In 2018, a year after her debut EP, Bird released her first single Lottery. The son was a punk-infused track with underlying romantic themes. The song topped the Adult Alternative Airplay chart and remained so for 3 weeks at a stretch. This made her the 5th female solo artist since 2010 to have a top song on the chart.

    Bird released her second single titled Uh Huh on 31st July 2018 which was a part of her debut studio album. The lyrics had some similarities to Lottery but demonstrated the influence of hard rock. In the same year, Bird released yet another single from her album titled Love Has Been Done Before and went on a tour of the UK and the Republic of Ireland.

    Bird released her self-titled debut studio album Jade Bird on the 19th of April 2019. She released her 4th single I Get No Joy post the announcement of the release of her album. This upbeat rock song was accompanied by a music video that was directed by Jamie Thraves. Bird’s album received a Metacritic score of 75 on the basis of 14 reviews that affirmed that the album had done well. NME had cited the album to have been a triumph while monthly magazine Paste was more critical about the album. Nevertheless, the album was nominated for Emerging Act of the Year by Americana Music Honors & Awards in 2019 and 3 more at the AIM Independent music awards. Bird eventually won the International Breakthrough artist title.

    After 9 months of the release of her debut studio album, Bird started working on her 2nd studio album in New York. Most of her tours slated for 2020 were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic after which Bird featured in a number of live stream concerts including a collaboration with Microsoft which was called the RE:Surface project. On 4th November 2020, Bird released her single Headstart from her second album followed by Houdini on 26th November. In 2021 she released her 3rd single from the album titles Open up the Heavens, which ABC Online quipped as one of her finest piece. She released her 2nd EP RCA Studio A Sessions on 16th April 2021 followed by her 2nd album titled Different Kinds of Light on 13th August 2021.
