Keep Your Calendars Free As This Summer, Konami May Be Back With Horror Video Game Silent Hill!

The latest products of the rumour mill seem to suggest that a new edition of famous Gaming franchise Silent Hill, may be in the works. Various reports seem to point to Konami’s horror franchise “Silent Hill” making a comeback, but the game developer giant seem to not be developing the game themselves, but instead using a third-party game developing studio. In a due release this summer, Konami was understood to have outsourced the game to a prominent Japanese developer, but in light of recent events, Polish game developer Bloober Team is assumed to be the one working on the project.
Bloomer Team CEO Piotr Babieno stated that they have been working on a game (another horror IP) for more than a year and that too, with a famous gaming giant. He also said that once people do realise who that giant is, they will be very excited and he is absolutely right as fans are going crazy about this speculation. This statement caused quite the ruckus in the online gaming community, with some believing due to the report by Konami outsourcing it to a Japanese Developer, that not one, but two franchise reboots are in the works for Konami. Konami is originally said to have approached Dark Pictures developer Supermassive, to pitch the Silent Hill reboot, but the project ultimately fell through.

Why we can’t be too sure while being excited.

Konami has historically pushed back against the idea of outsourcing development of their games, thereby suggesting to take all of the conclusions we have right now with a little pinch of salt, as it is too early in the development process to say anything concrete.

    And why we’re excited.

Originally released in 1999 for the PlayStation, the Silent Hill series is considered one of the best game franchises ever made, including being the defining factor of the survivor horror genre. It was one of the first games to use a third person view along with real time rendering of 3 dimensional elements emphasizing more towards the psychological and atmospheric aspect of horror within video games. We have received many adaptations of Silent Hill, like a 2001 Visual Novel, a 2006 feature film of the same name, a 2009 reboot of the game titled Silent Hill: Shattered Memories. The main objective of the game is to guide protagonist Harry Mason, through a town filled with monsters to find his lost daughter. While a mere mortal human himself, Harry must face off against various monsters with various fire arms and melee weapons. The franchise has been incredibly successful till this point, which leaves us hoping that the rumours are indeed true that our beloved but scary game, is making a comeback on next generation consoles.
