The Toxic Avenger was directed by Michael Herz from a script by Lloyd Kaufman and Joe Ritter. The Toxic Avenger is a low-budget superhero comedy splatter film franchise that began with The Toxic Avenger in 1984. The films revolve around Melvin Ferd, a skinny and frail janitor who is transformed into the deformed and mutant superhero Toxic Avenger, or “Toxie,” after being exposed to toxic chemicals. Troma Entertainment, notorious for producing low-budget B-movies with campy concepts and graphic violence, released all of the films in the series. The Last Temptation of Toxie and Citizen Toxie are two of the film’s three sequels.

On Rotten Tomatoes, the cult classic Troma film has a shockingly high approval rating of 70%. The Critics Consensus is as follows: Toxic Avenger is a hilarious and ribald superhero satire that hits more than it misses. Bacon will join Taylour Paige, Peter Dinklage, and Jacob Tremblay, who were previously revealed as part of the cast.

This Toxic Avenger reboot, described as a contemporary reinvention, will parody the superhero genre a la (Deadpool). The main character had gone on to become Troma’s most successful lead and we expect lots of fun gags and well timed humor from this movie.

It is reported that Peter Dinklage will play the hero, while Bacon will play a sleek villain.

Over the course of his career, Bacon has played a variety of evil villains and shady characters, notably in comic book films like James Gunn’s Super and Fox’s X-Men: First Class.
