One of the most anticipated films of 2021, set to hit theatres on March 26th, is the film ‘Godzilla vs. Kong’ from the monster verse franchise started by Ishirō Honda in 1954. Fans have been looking forward to this film ever since ‘Kong: Skull Island’ came out in 2017 and featured post-credit scenes tied the film to ‘Godzilla’. In 2019, ‘Godzilla 2: King of Monsters’ gave us another nod in the same direction when it called attention to article cut-outs mentioning unknown objects, what seems like a Mothra egg, a squid-like titan, seismic activity in Skull Island and Kong himself! After teasing their audience with posters, mere seconds-long footages, and tweets about the film, Legendary and Warner Bros. finally dropped a trailer for the Adam Wingard directed ‘Godzilla vs. Kong.’
Trailer breakdown for the film
One of the first shots we see in the trailer is the King Kong’s pitiful sight in shackles. Some major plot reveals we get through the trailer includes what seems like a shift in balance caused due to some unknown reason and the humans trying to restore said balance by using Kong as bait to put an out-of-control Godzilla down. We are also introduced to a new character, a child, who is the only one Kong communicates with. Although expectations were that Godzilla might be the protagonist of the film, the trailer seems to revolve around Kong and how he will be everyone’s saviour.

What else it may mean for the big day
We see a glimpse of some good old monster showdown between the two titans. Backed by humans’ high-end weaponry, Kong seems to overpower Godzilla as he punches the latter down while rock music amplifies the atmosphere. However, a G vs. K battle is not the only action we will witness, it seems like the film will also feature a flashback from an already fought war resulting from which Godzilla and Kong are the only titans left.
Where can you watch it?
Tom Holkenborg, who has worked on the music for this film, seems to have taken a page out of Henry Jackman’s, who worked on the same for Skull Island, book. The film already features great background scores in the trailer, and more can be expected in the feature film. The movie will be available to stream on HBO Max the same day as its release.
