Spiderman Episode Idea Was Removed For Being Too Scary In Marvel’s What If…?

With one planned Spider-Man episode idea that had to be scrapped, Marvel’s What If…? series appeared to be on the verge of breaking the beloved Disney PG-13 boundaries. The episode brought to life a comic arc in which Peter Parker transforms into a spider in a manner similar to The Fly.

What If…? writer AC Bradley told The Post-Credit Podcast that there were a couple of episodes that were just a little too dark for the show.He believes there was an original What If…? episode idea where Spider-Man transforms into a real spider, and that was just too dark and too body horror for their PG-13, according to him and the studio.

Despite the little constraint, Bradley went on to say that developing the show was similar to being given the keys to the toy store as a child. Except for items that had already been done in other projects and those that were now under production as part of Marvel’s planned slate of series and movies, nothing was off limits in the creation of this series.

There are only two days until the first episode of What If…? premieres on Disney+, and based on what we’ve seen so far, the first animated addition to the MCU will feature a lot of wacky storylines. There’s a lot happening for the new series, with stories involving Captain Carter, Zombie Hunter Spider-Man, Party Thor, and the final time late Chadwick Boseman will play T’Challa, and there’s still so much more to be revealed, as with all Marvel series. We’ll have to wait and see if audiences respond as well to it as they did to WandaVision and Loki after the series viewer ratings are released.

If superhero’s are your thing, then this one has to be on your watch list.
