Is “Metal Lords (2022)” Based On A True Story?

Brett Gelman (Fleabag) and Sufe Bradshaw (Veep) are playschool staffers in Metal Lords, so you know it’ll be amusing. Joe Manganiello (True Blood) isn’t in the trailer, but we know he’s done stuff like co-starring with Pee-wee Herman in Pee-Netflix wee’s film.

Weiss’ exploration of metal music isn’t entirely crazy. After all, he did manage to cast Mastodon members as wildlings in one episode of Game of Thrones and White Walkers in another. OK, so Game of Thrones also featured Ed Sheeran in a cameo, but still. Morello, on the other hand, brings genuine rock credentials to the table. And he and Weiss reportedly became friends when picking up their children from the same school.

“Metal Lords” is a fictional story. Teen dramas are one of the world’s most anticipated genres. Netflix has its own adolescent drama fan base, which provides an adrenaline rush to the spectator. Metal Lords is a Netflix teen music drama film created by Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D. B. Weiss. Here’s what we know thus far, including casting details, what to expect from the plot, and who’s involved.

To refresh your mind, David Benioff and D. B. Weiss just signed a multi-year deal with Netflix to develop new shows, fresh after their run-on HBO’s Game of Thrones. Metal Lords is one of their earlier projects, and it’s also one of the most likely to see the light of day.

    B. Weiss wrote Metal Lords, which was produced by David Benioff. Greg Shapiro, best known for his work on The Hurt Locker, also serves as a producer on the film.

Peter Sollett, the Cannes Film Festival’s Cinefondation Award winner, is set to direct. Sollett directed episodes for Hulu’s The Path and HBO’s Vinyl, as well as Freeheld, a film starring Ellen Page from The Umbrella Academy. In the near future, he’ll also be directing a live-action adaptation of the popular computer game Minecraft.

Metal Lords follows two high school boys and a girl as they try to establish a Heavy Metal band and prepare for a Battle of the Bands competition.

Plot: In a high school where exactly two students care about heavy metal, two kids desire to form a heavy metal band,” reads the official summary of Metal Lords. They look for a bass player but are unsuccessful, but they do find a girl who is an exceptional cellist. If the three of them can’t put their differences aside and work together, they’ll never win the Battle of the Bands.

The three main parts were first considered for Elisha Henig (American Vandal, The Sinner), Oakes Fegley (Pete’s Dragon, Person of Interest), and Isis Hainsworth (Pete’s Dragon, Person of Interest) (Wanderlust, Harlots). However, we now know that Elisha and Oakes were not given the parts when they were negotiating, and it’s unclear whether Isis was cast.

In February 2021, Metal Lords announced Jaeden Martell (Knives Out, Defending Jacob), Adrian Greensmith, and Isis Hainsworth as the three principal leads. As we previously reported, Hainsworth did indeed receive the part.

According to What’s on Netflix, we have character profiles for the three movie leads:

Hunter is uneasy in social situations and comes from a dysfunctional home, but he hides his emotions behind his one true love: The film’s production firm is Bighead Littlehead.

Music that is heavy metal. Metal is the one thing that can make him feel better and elevate his spirits. He is smart, driven, enthusiastic, and articulate. Hunter and Kevin intend to form a band and demonstrate their worth to the rest of the world.

Kevin is a shy kid with a big heart who can’t seem to find his voice. Hunter, the leader of the band, comes to his aid. Hunter encourages him to switch from marching band to metal drumming. When Kevin meets Emily, he realizes that he has the ability to reach out and connect with another person.

Emily is the only member of the group who can play the cello. She is a loner who avoids social situations, just like Kevin. She’s gifted, intelligent, and empathetic. Because she and Kevin are so similar, they help one other come out of their shells, but their bond causes conflict with Hunter, and Emily isn’t fond of confrontation.
