Following a drama contract negotiated by major independent distributor all3media worldwide with WarnerMedia Entertainment Networks Asia Pacific, Miss S, the new Chinese written format adaptation of the immensely famous Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries, will air throughout SouthEast Asia.
Miss S is a 30-minute drama produced by Tencent Penguin Pictures, Shanghai 99 Visual, and Easy Entertainment. It is airing on Tencent Network in China and for WarnerMedia Entertainment Networks in Southeast Asia. The drama will air on HBO Asia’s regional streaming service, HBO GO, and then on HBO proper. WarnerMedia has also acquired the right to broadcast the drama in English in the United States. The series will be broadcast simultaneously on Tencent and its various Chinese satellite channels.
This is the first Australian television series to be re-versioned in China. Each Cloud Productions negotiated the original Chinese-language coordination deal with Tencent. Fiona Egger and Deb Cox, founders and creators of the Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries television series, the feature film Miss Fisher and the Crypt of Tears and the spin-off Ms.Fisher’s Modern Murder Mysteries, act as creative advisors to Shanghai 99 Optical company productions.
Inspired by Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries, a drama produced by the Australian company Every Cloud Productions that all3media International has sold in more than 240 countries, the new Chinese adaptation is set in 1930s Shanghai. The series stars Yuli Ma (“The First Half of My Life”) as Miss Su Wen Li, a beautiful and witty socialite who forms an unlikely detective duo with the righteous and earnest Inspector Luo Qiuheng.
The series stars award-winning actress Mai Yi Li (The First Half of My Life, Struggle) as Miss S, with Gao Weiguang (Ghost Blowing Light, Harmony) as Luo Qiuheng. Jin Weiyi is the chief writer and producer and the main director of the series is Deng Ke (Detective N, When we are young).
