Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans – Urdr-Hunt – Everything We Know So Far

A new “Gundam” installment is in the works! Since 1979, when the original “Mobile Suit Gundam” premiered on Japanese television, other iterations of the series have been running. It pioneered the “real robot” genre, portraying enormous robots as semi-realistic military weapons rather than shiny retribution machines like “Power Rangers” or “Voltron.”

“Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans – Urdr-Hunt” is the next installment in the long-running franchise. Sunrise and Bandai Namco Entertainment announced the spin-off in 2019, and it is set to debut sometime around the release of the Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans G app, which was released in spring 2022.

‘Mobile Suit Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Urdr-Hunt’ is an upcoming spin-off of the hit anime series ‘Mobile Suit Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans.’

The ONA will introduce a new pilot character named Wistario Afam, who was born in a colony near Venus and pilots the Gundam Hajiroboshi. The ONA will take place between seasons one and two of the show.

What is Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans about?

What is Mobile Suit Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans about

Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans takes place over three hundred years after the Calamity War; it was the great conflict between Earth and its outer space colonies. Earth is now dominated by four economic blocs, with the military group Gjallarhorn in charge of maintaining order. The economy of Mars, however, is strongly reliant on that of Earth.

Kudelia Aina Bernstein is a young aristocrat from the Chryse Autonomous Region; she becomes involved in the Red Planet’s independence movement after being horrified by the awful living conditions that the Red Planet’s residents must endure.

She enlists the help of a local company, Chryse Guard Security (CGS), to accompany her on the visit to Earth in order to negotiate economic terms with the earthly bloc in charge of the territory. To protect her, the Third Army Division is picked, which includes Mikazuki Augus, Orga Itsuka, and many more juvenile soldiers.

When Gjallarhorn attacks the CGS facilities in order to assassinate the young revolutionary threatening their interests, Orga and his comrades must not allow the attackers to succeed—in fact, Gjallarhorn’s actions may end up being the unintentional catalyst that leads the children to forge their own fate.

On March 25, 2022, Sunrise released a new trailer of the upcoming anime Mobile Suit Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Urdr-Hunt. The opening song and animation are featured in the trailer, as well as a new look at the characters.

On top of that, we have a peek at the key artwork, which features both new Urdr’s Hunt characters and old favorites from the original series.

The anime is set to release in 2022. However, we don’t have a concrete date yet.

It turns out Urdr-Hunt is set in the year P.D. 323, just like the original series.

In the year P.D. 323, Gjallarhorn’s political intervention in the Arbrau central parliament evolved into a mobile suit-based armed conflict. Tekkadan, a group of boys from Mars, intervened and brought the incident to a close.

Wistario Afam, a young boy, born and raised in the Radonitsa Colony near Venus, has also heard about Tekkadan’s exploits. Venus, which came in second place in the development race to Mars, is a remote frontier planet with minimal attention from the four major economic blocs. It is presently only utilized as a penal colony for offenders whose residents do not even have identification cards.

Wistario then meets a girl who claims to be the Urdr-Hunt guide, which he hopes would change the status quo of his homeland.

The original team behind Iron-Blooded Orphans will return for Urdr-Hunt, according to Sunrise. Tatsuyuki Nagai will return to direct the spin-off, while others, such as Yuu Ito, will reprise their supervisory roles.
