Daniel Espinosa, Director Of Morbius, Drops A Venom-Shaped Spoiler

While Kevin Feige may keep his filmmakers on a tight leash when it comes to spoilers, it appears that Sony’s Marvel Universe directors aren’t given the same pep talk when it comes to confidentiality and speaking to the press. In a recent interview with Swedish blog MovieZine, Morbius director Daniel Espinosa appears to have dropped a Venom-shaped ball. We’ve already seen a meeting of Spider-Man villains, with Michael Keaton’s Adrian “The Vulture” Toomes from Spider-Man: Homecoming making an appearance in Morbius’ first trailer, and while we wait for Tom Hardy’s return as Eddie Brock in Venom: Let There Be Carnage, the filmmaker appears to have spoiled a future appearance by Venom in Morbius.

When asked about directing huge performers in a MovieZine interview, Espinosa replied by saying that when one looks at the schedule and stands on the set before the day begins, it typically feels awkward. Walking around the set, it appears to be a Swedish production, but when you look at the schedule and see names like Michael Keaton, Jared Leto, and Tom Hardy, it feels cool and exciting. But once I started working, everything was the same. A director is desired by an actor, and actors desire to be directed.

While Espinosa has already worked with Hardy, mentioning him in the same line as Keaton and Leto without prompting suggests that the Venom actor was on his mind, raising the possibility that Eddie Brock will appear in Morbius in some fashion. This would likely match with the supposed disclosures about the upcoming film that have already surfaced.

What we know is that there has been, a plan to merge the Sony Marvel Universe and the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and it appears that much of that link will be addressed in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Sanford Panitch, Sony’s President, has previously stated that there is really a strategy to connect the universes, and that the connection will be addressed in the future Spiderman film.
