Mordru Origins – This DC’s Most Powerful Dark Magician Wielded Magic That Even Gods Fear To Touch

Mordru mostly manifests as a shapeless Lord of Chaos. He existed before the universe was fully formed, and he will continue to exist long after the last star dies. Mordru is regarded as one of DC’s most dangerous, if not the most dangerous, magic users. While he is supposed to be capable of destroying entire galaxies, he lacks the omnipotence of the presence.

He is the most powerful Lord of Chaos, and he is the one that broke the Rock of Eternity and corrupted Hawk. He may be the only Lord of Chaos to have survived the Tenth Age of Magic. The Legion of Super-Heroes, the Justice Society, and the Justice League all oppose him.

To put his level of power into perspective, anyone with even a fraction of his power has gone on to do incredible things that they could not do before. Mordru is a dangerous cookie who should not be underestimated.

Mordru, the Lord of Chaos, begins his life by seizing Wrynn, one of Lord Topaz and also Lady Turquoise’s twin sons. Wrynn is drawn to the study of dark Magic. Wrynn accidentally resurrects Flaw, an attendant of the Child who is also one of the Lords of Chaos, during a summoning ceremony; Flaw picks Wrynn to be the Lords’ medium as they strive to recapture Gemworld.

The Lords rename Wrynn “Mordru” after bestowing him with incredible supernatural abilities. Mordru gradually takes over Wrynn’s thoughts and body. Mordru soon has absolute power over Wrynn, who has now been reduced to an imprisoned subconscious.

Mordru kills Donal in a duel against Amethyst, who is the Princess of Gemworld, and thus is then exiled from the Gemworld’s Twelve Kingdoms. Unsatisfied with this retribution, Amethyst confines Mordru within Gemworld by fusing him along with the continent itself. Mordru acquires the phobia of being buried alive, popularly known as taphephobia, during his decades inside Gemworld, which then becomes Mordru’s “Achilles’ heel.”

The Gemworld universe is not the same as Earth’s time. When 20 years pass in the Gemworld, just 13 years pass on Earth. The planet of Gemworld is transferred into Earth’s reality at the conclusion of the upcoming Gemworld and Mordru tale. Mordru, a Lord of Chaos eternal from Cilia, existed many millennia before the Gemworld “creation” back storyline, which is a stunning contradiction.

Mordru’s Post-Crisis timeline clashes with Dr. Fate, as well as the other superheroes, which are continued in Infinite Crisis, which erases the Gemworld origin. Mordu, as an energy entity, requires a mortal vessel in order to wield his powers. Mordru possesses the body of magician Arion, Lord of Atlantis, rather than Wrynn. Even if a 20-year-old Wrynn existed after the Infinite Crisis, he would have been just 4–5 years old in modern DC time.

Despite the fact that Chaos Lord Child references Wrynn even amid the Justice Society fight, the plan was to place the Gemworld on an anticipated bleak “post-crisis future” and make Mordru submissive through a less powerful Wrynn. Wrynn, Amber, and Donal are protagonists from a completely different timeline who were obliterated during the Infinite Crisis. The 1987 Amethyst mini-series with 4 issues was a hypothetical “future narrative” that took place 13 years following the Crisis on Infinite Earths.

Mordru acquires taphephobia as a result of his captivity inside the Rock of Eternity, rather than the abandoned Gemworld origin.

In the first Issue of Amethyst, we are greeted by dawn blooming inside Gemworld, which wakes an old man from dreams of his youth. He wakes up wearily, his moments purposeful, and leaves the house with a mission in mind. He approaches the statue of a beautiful woman and greets it, proceeding to make conversation with the bedazzled sculpture before he is rudely interrupted by two young men, Donal and Trey.

The two men then go on to confirm that they were simply jesting and did not mean to be rude or trespass. They praise the older man’s eyesight. Just then, one of the young men sees the statue behind the old man and inquires about it. The other man believes it to be some form of dark Magic and wishes to leave, but Donal is starstruck by the statue’s beauty. Trey remains unimpressed.

Donal tells the old man that his father is the Lord of Topaz, and he wishes to gift him the statue. The old man seems surprised and asks Donal if he is aware of the legend of  Princess Amethyst. Suddenly we see Child appear and watch the men around the statue with glee. She talks to dark, shifting beings around her and attempts to capture Amethyst’s statue by somehow making her hand reach out to another dimension in order to grab it. Donal and the old man are shocked, and the old man believes he has failed the Princess. Suddenly, the statute cracks open, and the beautiful Princess opens her eyes.

Meanwhile, Lord Topaz and Lady Turquoise are talking about Wrynn, Donal’s twin brother, and are concerned about his behavior. They believe Wrynn to be Donal’s evil half, and they are not wrong, as, in the meantime, Wrynn is busy summoning Flaw to the world of the living. Flaw realizes that Wrynn lusts for power, as he has appeared in his dreams, and offers the son of Lord Topaz what he deeply desires.

On the other hand, Donal and the old man standing in front of Princess Amethyst, filled with wonder. Donal does not believe that she is real, as he thinks her existence is a myth. She reveals the Old man’s real identity to Donal, and he is shocked that he is in the presence of Lord Opal as well. Flaw informs Wrynn that the Princess has risen and claims that Chaos will reign supreme with Wrynn as its instrument, and in return, he will give Wrynn what he desires most in the world, power. He bestows Wrynn with power and renames him Morduru, and from a distance, there is the tinkling sound of a child’s laughter.

    Wrath Of Mordru

Mordru, being a Lord of Chaos, exists as conscious energy with no mass. Because of his one-of-a-kind existence, he possesses a variety of extraordinary powers and is said to have no start and an end. He is also all-knowing and all-present. Mordru appears to be ageless as well. The Hourman android sought to de-age Mordru so that he would be less robust, but in doing so, he found that Mordru’s chronology had no birth or conclusion. Mordru, it seemed, was never born and will never die.

He might even possess other creatures in order to unleash the full power of his magical abilities. He is powerful enough to claim Arion’s body as his own. Mordru’s sorcerous skills are some of the most powerful in the known world. As the Lord of Chaos, he is attuned to the universe. He possesses a near-omnipotent mastery of the highest degree of Magic. His power is unfathomable, and he appears to be capable of everything he imagines. He is also capable of casting Universal, Personal, and Dimensional spells. He also possesses the ability to fly.

He can also exert control on the matter at the molecular level. He also has the ability to generate magical power in the manner of bolts or shields, which can help in the building of solid items. He also possesses the ability to regenerate and heal, and he can miraculously repair deadly wounds inflicted on himself or others. Alan Scott was able to repair Mordru’s abdominal injury in seconds after slashing it apart with an energy sword.

During his onslaught on the Justice Society when he had in New York, he had been able to survive many hits from Power Girl and a combination attack that was initiated by the JSA along with the Freedom Fighters. He has also shown superhuman strength, lifting things weighing hundreds of tons with minimal effort.

Mordru’s might becomes nearly indestructible by harnessing the power of massive reservoirs of magical power, including Fate’s artifacts, the Rock of Eternity, Arion’s body, and the Starheart, which are pretty immense on their own. He also possesses the abilities of Aura Perception, Teleportation, Telepathy, Time Travel, Magical Detection, Illusion Casting, Cosmic Awareness, and Telekinesis.

In the comic issue of Mordru the Merciless, we see more of Mordru’s powers come through. The story begins with Mon-El, Shadow Lass, Superboy, and Duo Damsel, four Legionnaires on patrol at their headquarters, utilizing their Time Cube to flee to the 20th century in Smallville.

At the same time, Mordru, who is the Dark Lord, follows them. Shadow Lass, a new Legionnaire, had been investigating the sub-basement where Mordru was confined in a vault and attempted to unlock it. Mon-El observed her, cautioned her to halt, and recounted to her the story of Mordru.

The enemy was from Zerox, which is the Sorcerers’ Planet, and then after acquiring the most extraordinary magical abilities, he seized that world and his sector of the cosmos. Saturn Girl was the Legion’s captain at the time, and then when Mordru invaded Earth, the team’s struggle with him appeared useless until she commanded Superboy along with Mon-El to confine him in an unventilated steel block, robbing him of his abilities. He went into a coma and has been unconscious since.

Shadow Lass’ tinkering, on the other hand, has allowed air to leak into the steel block and resurrect him. Forced to run, the four Legionnaires immediately understand that Mordru will find them and decide to take false identities in the hopes of evading him.

Mon-El assumes the persona of Bob Cobb, the one he used at the time he first met Superboy, with the help of Superboy’s adoptive parents, Martha and Jonathan Kent. Shadow Lass disguises herself as Betsy Norcross, an international student who lives with Lana Lang’s family, while Duo Damsel disguises herself as Marie Elkins, a reputed distant cousin of Smallville’s Chief of Police Parker’s spouse Leah, with whom she stays together with.

Mordru enters and casts a long shadow around town in search of the missing Legionnaires. He gains control over Lana and watches everything she does as a result of this. As time passes by, the heroes strive to remain as inconspicuous as possible and devise a strategy, while Mordru attempts his utmost to bring them to justice.

Then, a while after they arrive, “King” Carter, along with his criminals, takes over Smallville. Due to Mordru, the brave heroes are hesitant to utilize their abilities to stop them. Nevertheless, with Jonathan Kent as their leader, the villagers are persuaded to stand up to the horde and fight back. The thieves are defeated, and the Legionnaires are inspired to do the very same thing with Mordru. Lana observes them through her window as they reenact their costumes and congregate in an alleyway behind the Kent house. Mordru has tracked them down and appears in front of the heroes.

Mordru was played by Gabriel Dell in the 1979 live-action program Legends of the Superheroes. He performs a wicked rendition of “That’s Entertainment!” the song in this.

Mordru also appears in the season one episode “The Greatest Story Never Told” of Justice League Unlimited. He is shown to be in his Silver Age version. Mordru’s past is not addressed because the episode concentrates on Booster Gold’s quest. His godlike Magic, on the other hand, is acknowledged since it takes virtually the whole Justice League to defeat him. Throughout the episode, Mordru wrecks devastation in Metropolis, even combining Superman along with Batman into one super person who has the voice of Wonder Woman.

He is vanquished by the heroes, with Elongated Man giving him the knockout blow. A wizard resembling Mordru, who is voiced by Richard McGonagle, appears as a delegate of the Sorcerer’s World Council on the planet Zarok in the Legion of Super-Heroes chapter “Child’s Play.” He openly despises the “United Planets” and favors a conflict with Earth for a minor etiquette violation.

Mordru himself returns in the episode “Trials,” in which is voiced by Jim Ward. He tries to suck the power of the magicians on the Sorcerer’s World Council in order to control Zarok but is thwarted by Zyx and the Legion. Mordru also appears in a DC Universe Online episode as a figure to pursue after obtaining the Crime Bible and the Spear of Destiny.

Mordru is essentially a Silver Age figure that continues on in Post Crisis, being one of the individuals who remained untouched by the Crisis that happened on Infinite Earths. The present Mordru is a ferocious beast. Mordru’s power is derived through the usage of Chaos Magic, which would be the equivalent of “drawing from the cosmos what you desire,” necessitating no manuals, spells, sigils, or the like.

As a result, Mordru is free to do whatever the heck he wants! For screaming out loud, he infused enough Chaos Magic in the Ruby of Life “to rend the cosmos in part,” then continues to tear a fissure between the ink as well as the very page itself… before striding into it. We can all agree that Mordru is a force to be reckoned with and is possibly one of the most powerful villains ever created.
