For a reason, the Hellraiser franchise is regarded as a horror masterpiece! Nothing is predictable in the Cenobites’ insane world, and just when you think you’ve seen everything, the tale takes a turn for the worst! Although not every film in the franchise is a bargain, the first, directed by horror master Clive Barker, piques the interest of horror lovers.

The sadomasochistic demons’ stories frequently contain graphic violence, and the death sequences are gruesome to say the least. You will see people slaughtered in the most heinous manner possible, and the visuals are not for the faint of heart! The killings, on the other hand, are thrilling and adrenaline-pumping, and fans of the franchise are ecstatic to see the Cenobites unleash their horrors.

The Cenobites are extra-dimensional beings that are easily identified by their colourful mutilations and sadomasochistic fixation. If someone has the misfortune to visit their dimension, they will be subjected to some bizarre penalties.

We present you an infamous selection of some of the most horrific and imaginative Cenobite killings, the most of which are mastered by their commander, Pinhead, in this movie. Allow yourself to be drawn into the dark, twisted world of Hellraiser, for we have some incredible things to show you.

Frank Cotton – Hellraiser [Pinhead, Chatterer, Female Cenobite, Butterball]

Frank Cotton - Hellraiser [Pinhead, Chatterer, Female Cenobite, Butterball]

Frank Cotton is the main antagonist of the first Hellraiser film, and he solved the Lament Configuration in order to inflict the Cenobites’ terrible suffering onto himself. This selfish and hedonistic guy was ripped apart when he solved the puzzle box, in his desire for the greatest forms of pleasure in life. Later, he was revived when his brother Larry and his wife Julia moved into his house.

He existed in an emaciated, skinless state, and Julia, who was his muse before, brought him victims to consume so that he could heal himself slowly. However, the journey came to an end, when Larry’s daughter Kirsty(pronounce:-Kir-Stee) found out about him. She opened the puzzle box as well, and struck a deal with the Cenobites, where she would lead them to Frank and they would set her free.

Frank was not a give-up kind of guy! He also stabbed Julia, the woman who had aided him during the process. He cornered Kirsty and mocked her for mourning her father’s loss in a spectacular scene.

Just as he is about to butcher her with a knife, the Cenobites appear. They deliver their unique brand of punishment, metal hooks and chains latch onto his skin as he screams in agony. The way Pinhead appears and calls his name out will send a shiver down your spine!

His bloodied corpse is eventually ripped apart, just as Kirsty manages to escape from the room! His last words before being completely dismembered were, “Jesus Wept”! This was a solid reminder that there is no getting away from the Cenobites, their punishment maybe delayed but they always catch up.

    Julia Cotton [Pinhead, Frank Cotton]

    Julia Cotton [Pinhead, Frank Cotton]

Julia Cotton was married to Larry Cotton, but she could never forgive herself for having an affair with Larry’s brother Frank. Even when she found Frank in his half-dead, skinless, revived state, she was willing to help him by bringing back unsuspecting victims for him to consume.

Unfortunately, her death in the first Hellraiser movie was not justified for her sacrifice. Kirsty Cotton was her step-daughter, and she brought in the Cenobites to her house to track Frank down. Before they could rain their punishment on Frank, he accidentally stabbed Julia, and he was not hesitant to use her as well to regenerate himself further. Eventually, he left her for the Cenobites, and her lifeless body was later seen lying on a mattress with the twisted puzzle box!

She reappears in “Hellbound: Hellraiser II,” and her reappearance is one of the film’s most shocking sequences. Dr. Phillip Channard treats her in the same way as she treated Frank, and he brings her some of his patients to eat. She tricks her savior just as Frank tricked her, but finally, she is once again sucked back into the hellish dimension. She was about to attack Kirsty, but it is safe to assume that she wasdragged back for some more demented punishment in the realm of the Cenobites!

Sandy – Hellraiser 3: Hell on Earth (1992)

Sandy - Hellraiser 3 Hell on Earth (1992)

Sandy was a lovely blonde who met one of the most dreadful endings imaginable! She meets J.P. Monroe in a nightclub in “Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth.” She is seduced into his bedroom, without the knowledge of Pinhead lurking around the corner. After their fiery bedroom session, she was told by Monroe that he would replace her with someone the very next day.

Just as an infuriated Sandy was arguing with Monroe, Pinhead struck out of nowhere. His trademark hook-tipped chains proved to be her nemesis, and she was skinned alive just like Julia and Frank. It was haunting to hear her screams as she writhed about in pain, trapped in the Pillar of Souls.

This was a statue that looked like a combination of tortured figures fused together. After her painful demise, where she was mutilated as she died, her skin and body were found by her family. They were shocked to see the extent of the mutilations that she suffered, and she was buried in a church cemetery.

This scene is memorable because of the shock value! You know something terrible is about to happen to her the whole time, but when it finally does, the mutilations are much worse than the worst of nightmares!

JP Monroe – Hellraiser 3: Hell on Earth (1992)

JP Monroe - Hellraiser 3 Hell on Earth (1992)

He was one of the adversaries in “Hellraiser 3,” and his death was appropriate for his deranged mentality. This wealthy man had a knack for dark abstract art, and it all started when he acquired a statue called the Pillar of Souls, that had trapped Pinhead for all this while. He was the owner of a nightclub, and after he moved the Pillar of Souls to his bedroom he realized that something inside it was alive.

It consumed one of the girls he slept with, and Monroe was commanded by Pinhead to bring back more victims so that he could be free. In the greed for power, Monroe agreed, and he planned to lure his ex-girlfriend in, as the next prey for Pinhead. In a twist of fate, Pinhead struck a deal with his ex-girlfriend Terri, and J.P. Monroe became the victim.

Even witnessing his dying was excruciating! A piston-like device protruded from the Pillar, and it pierced him through the skull. His blood was drained from his body and the usual mutilations by hooks were alsocarried out. After his gruesome death, he turned into a Cenobite himself, and he was called Pinhead because pistons pumped through his skull. Eventually, he was banished to the hellish realm along with the other Cenobites!

Rick Bloodstone – Hellraiser 3: Hell on Earth (1992)

Rick Bloodstone - Hellraiser 3 Hell on Earth (1992)

J.P. Monroe, the ambitious and self-centered nightclub owner, has previously been mentioned. Rick Bloodstone worked as a bartender in his nightclub and was friendly with the proprietor. He was portrayed as a jovial and friendly guy who would joke around the club.

There is a terrifying scene in “Hellraiser 3” that makes many take their eyes off the screen! In this deadly sequence, Pinhead slaughters everyone in the nightclub, including Rick Bloodstone. A barbed wire is wrapped around his face so tightly that it starts to sink into the skin. After he dies a painful death from the strangulation and mutilation by the barbed wire, he is turned into a pseudo-Cenobite by Pinhead.

His Cenobite appearance was as horrible, as he resembled a colossal enlarged skull with wires piercing his flesh. They poked into his eyes and face, and the mutilations looked grotesque. As a Cenobite, he had the ability to spit fire. When all the other Cenobites were sent back to their hellish dimension, Rick Bloodstone, now changed into the Barbie Cenobite was also among them. He probably became a true Cenobite once he entered hell!

Mark & Michael Norrington – Hellraiser: Bloodline (1996)

Mark & Michael Norrington - Hellraiser Bloodline (1996)

Mark and Michael Norrington were identical twin brothers who lived together. They also worked together as security guards for a Lament Configuration exhibit put on by one of Philip Lemarchand’s grandchildren.

Before the opening of the exhibition, they heard strange sounds and went on to investigate. Little did they know that the sounds were actually a conversation between two Cenobites, Pinhead and Angelique. This was the last of their human existence because Pinhead attached their bodies together like a Siamese twin, and they were sent to Hell to become Cenobites.

However, Pinhead was aware that the brothers would love to exist together, and thus the fused arrangement made sure that even in their twisted Cenobite form they wouldn’t be separated. The Siamese Twin Cenobite stayed with Pinhead for several missions, and it was a hideous sight to see; two heads tied up in a knot through their ears!

John Merchant – Hellraiser: Bloodline (1996)

John Merchant - Hellraiser Bloodline (1996)

He is a descendent of Paul Merchant, a man whose bloodline was cursed by the Cenobites and condemned to be extinguished. After almost 200 years, a Cenobite named Angelique finds out that John Merchant is a descendant and the bloodline had somehow survived. Pinhead had other plans! He wanted to make John use the puzzle box so that the gateway to the hellish dimension would always be open.

He even plans to use John’s child, Jack, to threaten him. But when the configuration is used, it does not work. This is when Pinhead kills John, by using his scissor-like chain. John was impaled through the neck and he bled out, before being decapitated. His wife managed to send the Cenobites back to their realm just in time before they could hurt her!

Detective Joseph Thorne – Hellraiser: Inferno (2000)

Detective Joseph Thorne - Hellraiser Inferno (2000)

He was the major adversary in “Hellraiser: Inferno,” and he was a crooked cop whose bizarre path began when he was a child, when he bullied others. He was a drug addict, and he also cheated on his wife – thus, not a single moral code left for him to break, except solving the Lament Configuration. Once the Cenobites are summoned, the Engineer kills the lady he was sleeping with.

When Joseph tries to confront him, Pinhead steps into the action, and hooks his hand up with one of his chains. It is revealed that Joseph Thorne is condemned to a lifetime of torture in hell because he solved the puzzle box, and the Engineer is nothing but a manifestation of his crooked thoughts and cruel nature.

As we watch a younger version of Thorne being slain, it’s a disturbing image. His neck has been slit and his skull has been peeled alive. He dies a painful death, and he wakes up with a jolt, as if from a dreadful nightmare! However, it soon dawns on him that he is caught up in some Hell loop. No matter what he does, he keeps waking up in the motel room, where it all started! One cannot run from their sins, can they!

Trevor Gooden – Hellraiser: Hellseeker (2002)

Trevor Gooden - Hellraiser Hellseeker (2002)

If the original Hellraiser films are any indication, Kirsty Cotton had a tough start in life. Even her adult life turns out to be a disaster! Her husband, Trevor Gooden, turns out to be a cheating, selfish guy, and he even plans to have her killed using the puzzle box. However, things don’t go according to plan once he solves the Lament Configuration.

He ended up summoning Pinhead and the Cenobites, and Kirsty struck a deal with them before he could know. She traded five souls for her own, and successfully got them all five of them! Trevor was shot in the head while he was driving, and it led to a car accident. After this, he simply got caught up in a hell loop like Joseph Thorne.

He learns from Pinhead, that three of his mistresses and one of his friends have been killed. Kirsty Cotton is still alive out there, and Trevor would now be the fifth sacrificed soul! He succumbs to the painful knowledge that he had been dead all along!

Kate Bradley – Hellraiser: Revelations (2011)

Kate Bradley - Hellraiser Revelations (2011)

Nico Bradley went missing after running away to party in Mexico, and Kate Bradley was his mother. Kate Bradley was later summoned by Pinhead after he was discovered in a distorted mental state. A girl named Emma was forced to open the puzzle box at gunpoint, and when Pinhead appeared, he ordered everyone to remain silent. Kate did not obey the orders, and tried to tell him that Emma was only forced to summon him!

As a punishment, Pinhead uses the hooked chains to latch onto Kate’s throat and rip it open. She dies in a pool of blood, and Pinhead soon turns his attention to Nico! Kate Bradley was nothing but an unfortunate victim, but her death scene was no less shocking than some of the most graphic ones in the franchise!
