Who doesn’t love love? Everyone loves an adorable, sweet, comical romance. The anime genre of rom-com is just what you think it is: a romantic comedy. It is about exploring love, friendships, and sweet memories.
Along the way, the characters may bump into comical misunderstandings and unexpected situations that keep the story going. Regardless of their slight mishaps, the drama and comical nature are what make rom-coms one of many people’s favorite anime genres.
There are plenty of rom-com anime out there to watch, but if you’re waiting for something new to watch, you’d be happy to know that Kyousuke Kamishiro’s romantic-comedy light novel series, My Stepsister is My Ex-girlfriend, is getting an anime adaptation. The light novel series is written by Kyousuke Kamishiro and illustrated by Takayaki. It began serialization in 2017 on the light novel website called Kakuyomu.
The print version of the light novel started under Kodakawa in December 2018. There is also a manga adaptation drawn by Rei Kusakabe, which began serialization on the Niconico Seiga website.
What will be the plot of My Stepsister is My Ex-Girlfriend?
Yume Ayai confessed to her classmate, Mizuto Irito, during the summer of her second year of middle school, and the two began dating. At first, the two spend time together as a couple, but due to an unfortunate misunderstanding, they become estranged and break up after graduating.
However, two weeks later, Mizuto’s father and Yui’s mother, both single parents, remarried, and Mizuto and Yui became siblings with the same surname, Irito, and started their new life in the same house.
Conscious of their parent’s feelings, the former couple devised a “sibling rule” in which the one who becomes aware of the other as the opposite sex loses, but how can they disregard one another when they encounter each other in the bathroom, commute to and from school together, share memories of the past, and live under the same roof?
Having to be in the same school is already bad enough, but imagine ending up as their step-sibling just two years after they break up. That’s the reality of both of our protagonists. Throughout the show, we’ll see how Mizuto and Yume adjust to their new lives as step-siblings, but also how they deal with everything that life throws at them.
When will My Stepsister is My Ex-Girlfriend be released?
The upcoming My Stepmom’s Daughter Is My Ex-Girlfriend anime has revealed a new trailer and a July 2022 premiere; we don’t have a concrete date yet, but considering the fact that a time frame has been set, we should have the new release date soon with hopefully, a new trailer, and a new set of visuals to accompany it. Studio Project No.9 is in charge of the animation, with Shinsuke Yanagi as the director.
The trailer features the anime’s opening song, “Deneb and Spica,” by DIALOGUE+. The additional cast was revealed and includes Ikumi Hasegawa, Nobuhiko Okamoto, and Miyu Tomita. The anime was announced in July 2021. The first key visual and trailer, which already surpassed 2 million views, was revealed on January 27, 2022. In addition, a new key visual has been revealed.
