New Psycho-Horror Game ‘Horror Story: Hallowseed’ Draws Inspiration From ‘Insidious’ And ‘The Conjuring’

The majority of the horror stories have taken a similar direction to expose their plot, using conventional elements such as two friends going out camping and things going wrong, with one of them getting stranded alone and so on. You know the drill. Jeff Winner is walking the same line to develop his Early Access video game Horror Story: Hallowseed. However, if you think it will be the same old plot all over again, you could not be more wrong. As a psychological horror, Hallowseed is set to be anything but conventional.

    Plot

You play the game as Michael. He is one of the three friends who have embarked on a camping trip in Hallowseed. The story proceeds to make strange things happen that strands Michael. He has no idea what is going on, but he knows that he has to rescue his two friends.

Upcoming Psychological Horror Game 'Horror Story: Hallowseed' Draws Inspiration From 'The Conjuring', 'Insidious' - Bloody Disgusting

    Gameplay

The game has not been released yet, but it is currently out in Steam Early Access. It takes inspiration from horror films such as Insidious, 2010 and The Conjuring, 2013. It is developed independently and follows the genre “adventure.” This Early Access edition of the game gives the players an introduction to the game. Every good psychological horror fare concentrates its focus on telling a rich, flavourful story. Horror Story: Hallowseed does just that in its introduction. It also lets the players experience a “micro-scares system,” which is one of the most innovative things the game does. It involves a random system of frightening events that get activated depending on the players’ interaction with their environment. We are slowly progressing towards the age of AI, after all.
