Day of the Dead showrunners Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas, director Steven Kostanski, and cast members Keenan Tracey and Natalie Malaika get together to discuss the series and release an exclusive trailer. The conversation, moderated by SYFY WIRE’s Caitlin Busch, takes a deep dive into the world of horror, including a behind-the-scenes look at the show’s creation, how George A. Romero’s work inspired the series’ producers, and how it pays homage to The Godfather of Zombie’s original famous flesh eaters.

The film “Day of the Dead” follows six strangers as they attempt to survive the first 24 hours of an undead invasion. This homage to George A. Romero’s renowned flesh-eaters reminds us that sometimes all it takes is a horde of ravenous zombies seeking to rip people apart to bring people together.

George Romero’s 1985 masterwork was followed by an unofficial prequel in 2005 and two remakes in 2008 and 2018, none of which could match Romero’s superb work. Needless to say, the bar for all things Day of the Dead is quite low at this point. Let’s hope Kostanski and the rest of the team can improve on last year’s performance.
