Jason Blum Confirms Paranormal Activity 7!

Jason Blum has confirmed that the latest instalment in the Paranormal Activity franchise is finished, as well as why it is a reboot rather than a sequel.

While the narrative of the next film is being kept under wraps for the time being, Jason Blum was happy to discuss about pushing the franchise in a new path. The new picture is written by Christopher Landon, who also penned Paranormal Activity 2 and The Marked Ones. While this may appear to be the easiest approach to merely rehash what has already been done, Blum was emphatic that the new film would only be made if it was going to be freshened up.

Most franchises reach a point where the same story is recounted over and over again. Arriving in the 2000s, Paranormal Activity breathed new life into the “found footage” horror genre. However, after six films in the series, each of which was loosely connected, the upcoming Paranormal Activity 7 will be the first complete reboot of the premise, according to Jason Blum.

Blum spoke with Collider’s Haleigh Foutch about the latest instalment to the Paranormal Activity franchise and verified that the film is finished while promoting The Forever Purge. There have been some changes that may still be surprising, such as the premiere date being pushed back from March 2022 to sometime before the end of this year on Paramount+’s streaming service, news that was first reported in February.

Blum noted that while Paramount wanted to continue with Paranormal Activity, he would have probably left it alone. He advised them to consider a reboot rather than a sequel because they wanted to continue it. Many of the people who are going to see the new Paranormal Activity were only three years old when the original Paranormal Activity was released, so they are unaware of the previous films. If they were going to re-do it, he thought they should genuinely re-do it, not try to expand on what had been done all those years ago.
