Plot- Cassie Salazar and Luke Morrow are diametrically opposed. Luke is an Army recruit set to deploy who finds solace in the military’s unwavering discipline.
Is “Purple Hearts” based on a true story?
Tess Wakefield’s novel, Purple Hearts, is based on Cassie (Carson) and Luke (Galitzine). Cassie contacts a buddy in the military about a marriage of convenience to keep herself afloat after trying to make ends meet as a musician and employee at a bar in Austin and drowning in medical costs following her diabetes diagnosis. When that buddy refuses to help, his friend Luke steps in to aid, despite the fact that he and Cassie are polar opposites.
He has his own motivations for getting married, so the two strive to maintain a family image despite their disagreements in order to split the larger wage. Despite their disagreements with one another and the circumstances, the two begin to fall in love along the journey
The images provide little information, but they do give us a good look at the couple we’ll be following throughout the film, and we can surmise several plot aspects from them. Luke is clothed in military uniform, and the two appear to be outside a military installation, hugging each other before Luke reports to service. Given the concept of the novel on which the film is based, it’s perfectly plausible that the two are only keeping up appearances, but the glance they exchange suggests that they’ve already developed a love for each other.
With Carson as a co-writer, Kyle Jarrow and Liz Garcia adapted the movie. Carson, a real-life musician, contributed to the film’s soundtrack and even co-produced Embankment with the director Allen Rosenbaum, Amy Baer, Hugo Grumbar, and Tim Haslam. Leslie Morgenstein and Elysa Dutton of Alloy Entertainment are the producers for the movie.
