In 1988, the world received an icon of horror and witch world called Elvira through the film Elvira: Mistress of the Dark. Directed by James Signorelli, this film starred Cassandra Peterson in one of the most memorable roles she has done till now, so much so that people to this day refer to her as Elvira. The film tells the story of a late-night horror show hostess. She arrives in the town of Fallwell and immediately turns heads of the conservative Puritans residing there with her macabre appearance. Coming this year, right before Halloween month, is the appreciation she deserves in the form of her upcoming memoir titled Yours Cruelly, Elvira: Memoir of the Mistress of the Dark.
What we know about the book so far
The book is two hundred and seventy-two pages long and tells the Halloween queen’s full backstory by the stunning lady herself. Having felt like a misfit all her life due to her unconventional ways of life, Cassandra realised her love for horror at the young age of eighteen months. She intentionally poured boiling water on herself, leaving her with third-degree burns, and just like that, she was the odd child who would play with Dracula and Frankenstein kits while her sisters and other girls her age played with dolls.

It will touch on events of her life that finally gave us the 1988 film
Given the exciting events of her life, since she left home at the tender age of fourteen, this memoir will take the readers on a wild ride and vicariously live through the adventures of Cassandra’s life. No matter how odd and twisted, how separate from the society, she never lost confidence in who she truly is, and neither did she try to hide it, which makes one almost want to be like her, even if it means embracing goth and mystery. The memoir will be available starting 21st September, but fans can pre-order it on Amazon today itself!
