The Ragna Crimson is a popular Japanese manga. The manga has a total of 10 individual volumes. Written and illustrated by Daiki Kobayashi, the manga revolves around dragon hunters. Seeing it gaining popularity it’s finally decided to make an anime series of the same. As of March 22, 2022, there is a total of ten volumes. The first volume was released on October 21st, 2017 and the manga was serialized in a teen magazine- Monthly Gangen Token run by Square Axis
The series follows an interesting storyline. It Involves dragon hunters who are armed warriors who fill the manga with thrilling action. The warriors kill dragons to receive rewards and profits. Leonica, one of the dragon slayers, has the highest number of killings on her scoreboard. Ragna, which constitutes the lowest rank amongst the warriors, decides to team up with Leonica. The friendship develops, and Ragna wishes to be in her company. Here is exactly where the table turns. The duo faces a challenge from the scariest dragon.
Ragna’s power is very weak compared to his partner Leonica. He tries to make the best out of his skills and is always seen working hard. Ragna is concerned about Leonica and tries his best to assist her, as much as he can. He does extra training secretively in order to enhance his power and reduce the burden upon Leonica.
The story takes a sharp twist when Ragna meets his future self. The news obtained from his future self came as a shock to him. He learns that his lack of power will lead to the death of the person, he is most emotionally closed with. The answer to this was- Leonica.
What will follow in the anime series of Ragna Crimson?
The anime impresses its viewers with strong characters and a broad plot. Crimson is a wholesome character and more densely sketched in comparison to Ragna. Ragna is goal-oriented, whereas crimson steals the stage with his comedy and tactics.
Ragna has always been protective of Leonica. He will be possessed with power in the future, but it’s all useless if he can’t use that power to save his special person. Hence, he decides to change his destiny and his future. However, it came at a cost to him. On his journey to change his future, he has to leave Leonica behind.
As he continues his journey, he meets Crimson who is a dragon. Crimson despite being a dragon, doesn’t favor them and hates them. He wishes for their destruction and thus having similar motives he joins Ragna. Further, the duo meets Princess Starlia, as they move ahead to face more challenges. The Princess also has the motive to protect humanity from the dread of dragons.
Initially, as Ragna continues on his journey, a fight between Ranga and Lady Ultimatia takes place. While Ragna was in the time prison, he was offered to update his power as that of a dragon. Ragna, however, very straightforwardly refused the proposal. He was injected with dragon blood, even after his refusal.
The blood in his veins, helped him to break his time in prison. We saw the clever moves from Crimson too. The duo teleports to Princess Starlia who possesses excellent skills and tactfully slain the dragons. It will be revealed in the upcoming series whether Ragnar, Crimson, and Princess Starlia are able to achieve their similar goal, backed up by different personal reasons.
Will there be an anime series?
An anime series will be produced for the manga series. The decision was announced on March 19, 2022, by the official Twitter account for Square Enix’s Gangan Joker magazine. The number of seasons and episodes is still unknown. The Square Axis Manga and Books imprint will look after the release of the English dubbed version in North America.
When will the anime series be set to air?
The much-awaited season one of the series Ranga Crimson will be aired in 2023. No specific date has been announced by the production line. It has been confirmed that the series will be a television anime.
