Record of Ragnarok is another Japanese manga that has gathered a huge crowd of fans. The manga is completed by Shinya Umemura and Takumi Fukui who are its writer and Ajichika who illustrated the whole manga series. The manga has been following publication in a Japanese youth magazine- Monthly Comic Zenon. The first volume appeared on May 19, 2018. As of March 19, 2022, a total of fourteen volumes were in publication. Viz Media an American anime publication company obtained the license of the series in June 2021.
An original net animation of the series has been adopted by a Japanese animation Studio- Graphinica. The first season was aired on Netflix in June 2021. A season second will also follow the series. Before the release of the second season, let’s have a sneak peek at what has happened in the previous season.
Season one depicts a fight between the Gods and Humans. The gods having considered the sins of humankind wants to extinct it. On the other hand, the humans battle in order to save their kind. Every thousand years, a council of Gods is organized to evaluate the acts of humankind. Humankind is living for over 7 million years now, and after evaluating their deeds the Gods decide that the acts committed are hideous and can’t be redeemed. Hence, the final verdict comes in the favour of extinction of the humankind.
Though in the council, resistance comes from Valkyrie Brunhilde, who is the leader of the Valkyrie group and the eldest Valkyrie as well. She proposes that humankind should be given the last chance to prove their still remaining humanity. After putting effort, the Gods are convinced of the proposal, and hence comes the idea of the battle of Ragnarok to the forefront. In order to prove their worth, the humans will have to participate in the battle of Ragnarok. A set of 13 significant and strong humans are selected who will fight against the set of 13 gods, each having its own specific power.
If humans want to save mankind, it is mandatory for them to score 7 points in the duels. A tournament is held consisting of various competitions. To assist the mere humans against the powerful gods, Valkyrie helps the humans out. Each human participant is assigned a Valkyrie which can be converted into any weapon or “Volund”, according to the wish of their user. If the user is killed so is the Valkyrie assigned to him. Mankind will be given another 1000 years to live if they manage to win.
Is there any season second for the anime Record of Ragnarok?
Seeing the immense success of the show, it has been expected that a season second will soon follow. The fans have also created a high demand for the want of a next season as soon as possible.
When the Record of Ragnarok Season 2 is set to air?
It is suggested that the season second will appear at the end of 2022. No announcement regarding a specific date has been mentioned.
What will follow in the plot of Record of Ragnarok Season 2?
After having witnessed the defeat of Lu Bu against Thor in season one, the fans are excited about season second. In season one, the fall of Adam against Zeus was also seen. As all hopes for humankind were dying, a miracle happens. Kojiro’s victory against Poseidon gave hope both to humans and- Valkyrie, who were fighting along then.
In the second season, the rest of the tournament will take place. For now, the score stands in the favor of the gods. However, with the first victory, we can be hopeful for humankind in the next season. The new season will begin from the fourth duel. In the fourth duel, we will see Hercules and Jack the Ripper as opponents. Jack belongs from the 19th century and is an acknowledged serial killer. We will see that Valkyrie Hlokk will assist him against the God of strength- Hercules. The season second will further reveal the possibilities of victory for humankind.
Various Gods participate in the tournament like – Thor- the god of thunder, Zeus- chairman of the Gods Council, Poseidon- the God of the sea, Hercules- the Greek god of strength, Shiva- a Hindu god, Zerofuku- a combination of Seven Lucky Gods of Japan, Bishamonten- a Buddhist God of warriors, Hades- Greek god of the underworld. There are other gods as well like Hermes, Aphrodite, Ares, Odin, Loki, Heimdall, Anubis, and Apollo.
In the next season, apart from Gods, we will see notable human figures like- Jack the Ripper, Buddha, Raiden Tameemon, Souji Okita, Nikola Tesla, Sakata Kintoki, Grigori Rasputin, and Qin Shi Huang.
