Riddick – Furyans, Bio-Raptors, Necromonger & Mud Demons Explained

There’s nothing quite like a dirty R-rated sci-fi series with a compelling plot, and the Riddick flicks feature all of the enthralling mythology found in Star Wars movies! Little did we know when the first installment of The Chronicles of Riddick franchise was launched in 2000 that it would go on to become a great series!

Pitch Black showed a tough-as-nails antihero whom we all admired, and Vin Diesel’s rough and raw demeanour gave the character a particular appeal. We’ve seen him combat deadly animals, and in The Chronicles of Riddick, he faced off against the powerful Necromongers! So who is this enigmatic Riddick?

He’s an interplanetary Furyan outlaw who appears in the first film in custody before escaping. The character has many transformations, and his exploits generate material for the franchise’s amusing films.

Despite the grim and unforgiving tone of the story, this has been an undervalued series over the years. In this video, we will examine the franchise and provide you with the missing parts of the puzzle. We’ll explain everything for you, from Riddick to the terrifying Bio-Raptors, from the Necromongers to the Mud Demons. In a world when big-budget sci-fi action franchises are growing increasingly dull, it might be worthwhile to revisit an old favourite.

What was Pitch Black all about?

What was Pitch Black all about

Let’s start with the storyline of the first film, which is widely considered to be the greatest in the series. The film is set in the far future, presumably in a galaxy far away from Earth. Passengers travel through space on a regular basis, and the film opens with a space transport ship transporting roughly forty people.

Everyone on board is in cryo-sleep, except Riddick, who is unusually awake. The spaceship is suddenly involved in an accident as debris from a renegade comet collides with the ship and fractures the hull.

The captain is killed immediately, and the sleeping passengers wake up to find themselves in the midst of a disaster. The spaceship is hurled into the atmosphere of a planet and gravity makes it plunge towards the surface at extreme speed.

The docking pilot, Carolyn Fry, and navigator Greg Owns do their best to crash-land without inflicting major damage, and when they do there are eleven survivors. Whilst the spacecraft plunges, Greg attempts to send out a distress signal, though this does not work out.

When Carolyn tries to ditch the passenger compartment in an attempt to ensure a safer landing, Greg stops her from doing so. After landing, Carolyn finds Greg impaled by a metal shaft, and tends to him as he dies in excruciating pain.

Carolyn, William J. Johns, who appears to be a cop, an Imam, Abu al-wahid (waa-heed), who is on a religious journey with his three sons, a young stowaway teenager Jack, antique dealer Paris P. Ogilvie, and settlers John (Zeke) and his companion Sharon are among the eleven survivors.

Riddick, a dangerous criminal who was being transferred to be imprisoned, is the other survivor. He possesses extraordinary eyes that allow him to see in complete darkness, but brightness impairs his vision, therefore he must always wear goggles.

He manages to extricate himself in the commotion of the crash, but Johns quickly apprehends him. He is then imprisoned within the spaceship, while the others attempt to investigate the odd planet on which they have arrived. It appears to be a desolate area resembling an endless desert, with nothing but sand visible.

Thankfully, even if their breathing is hard, the survivors can breathe the planet’s air. The first problem they meet is a lack of water, but the Imam promises them that water will always be available in the desert.

In the mean time, Riddick manages to free himself, and Johns hands out weapons to every other survivor, expecting Riddick to return to retrieve important things from the crash site. While everyone is wary of Riddick’s notorious past, young Jack seems to be fascinated by him.

He helps Sharon and Zeke in putting together a breather aid to assist with oxygen intake. Johns tries to look for Riddick using his telescope, and Fry asks Imam to go scouting for a water source. It seems like sunset is on the cards, but then they find something remarkable!

The planet has three suns that cause everlasting daylight, and while two yellowish suns were setting, a bluish one was rising, ensuring constant light. Imam believes that the direction of the blue sunrise would lead him to a water source, and Johns believes that Riddick would have gone the same way, trying to avoid light from the other two suns.

Fry and Johns, along with Imam and his three sons, went out in search of water and Riddick. The others are told to keep an eye on the crash site and to shoot Riddick immediately if they see him. If Riddick is allowed too much time, he is said to have infamous knife skills that would be disastrous for the survivors.

While looking through his telescope, Johns notices what appears to be trees, which he believes to be the water source. However, deeper examination reveals skeleton remains in a huge graveyard, raising the critical question of who or what killed everyone on the planet.

Johns confronts Fry about her earlier decision to sacrifice the passengers for a safe landing, and his suspicion about Fry is confirmed. Riddick eavesdrops, but they are completely unaware of his presence.

They move past the skeletal remains and head deeper into the planet. They come across what seems like an abandoned human settlement, and they even find things like a solar toy robot and other manmade objects. Fry comes across a room where the model of the planetary system has been explained.

There are three Suns, and three planets lie between them. The spaceship crash-landed in the middle planet, and with Suns on either side, it gets everlasting light. She also makes a delightful discovery when she finds a small spaceship near the settlement.

Zeke is excavating a mass burial near the crash scene while keeping an eye on Riddick and the others. When an unknown approaches, they shoot him because he looks like Riddick, but it turns out he was simply another crash survivor.

Zeke transports all of the bodies to the cemetery, but sees an odd hole in the dirt. Something unusual tugs him inside as he attempts to investigate closer, and he tries to break free by shooting his weapon, but it doesn’t work. Sharon rushes in, finding blood all over the place and Riddick seated with his knife.

Riddick flees, with the others pursuing him, believing he is the murderer. Johns had heard the gunshot from a distance, and he rushes back to the site with Fry. Whilst returning, he intercepts Riddick and successfully defeats him by tearing off the goggles. As Riddick is blinded by the Sun, Johns overpowers him and takes him prisoner once again.

Fry interrogates Riddick about his crimes, but he remains defiant, showing off his brand of sarcasm. He tells them that the group has a bigger problem to deal with, pointing to some dreaded creature lurking within the surface.

Johns doesn’t believe a word, but when Fry goes to inspect the hole, her fears are confirmed. They realize that they are dealing with a serious threat, and Johns unchains Riddick to fight alongside them. He promises him freedom if he helps them escape from the planet.

The party travels to the abandoned human village and carefully examines the little spaceship. Paris thinks it’s archaic, but Fry has a solution: they can modify the ancient electrical system to their needs.

Although it is a small spaceship, Riddick believes it will be sufficient to bring them to the solar-track shipping routes, where they may be saved. Riddick is dispatched by Johns to gather materials for repairing the spacecraft’s wings, while Fry estimates that the spaceship will require five power cells to launch.

Sharon works on a solar-powered vehicle that aids in the transportation of the hefty load of cells. Imam and his kids are successful in repairing a moisture machine and producing water.

Jack is so awed by Riddick that he shaves his head and puts on a pair of goggles to copy his look. Jack and one of Imam’s boys named Ali follow Riddick into a room. Riddick and Jack return to the main party, and everyone seems to be delighted to finally have water.

However, it soon dawns on them that Ali is missing, and we see the horrifying sight of bat-like alien creatures following Ali into one of the rooms. The others hear his screams, but they are too late, and they arrive to a lifeless body. It turns out that the former occupants were geologists, who were all killed by these alien creatures. Fry makes a startling discovery.

She learns that the planet is subjected to a total eclipse every twenty-two years, during which time it is completely dark. They recognise that they must act quickly because the aliens appear to flourish in darkness and are afraid of light.

These creatures, known as Bio-raptors, are highly aggressive and ferocious carnivores that serve as the planet’s ultimate predator. They live in dark caverns because they are light-sensitive, and they are enormous, winged creatures that resemble dragons in many ways. Despite some slight differences, there is a strong resemblance to the Xenomorphs.

Their ears are set far apart, leaving them with a blind spot in front of their heads. But these creatures also have a terrific sense of smell, which allows them to locate their prey at great distances. One of the most devastating weapons for the Bio-raptors is the long sharp incisors that they use to stab or decapitate their prey.

We saw two forms of this creature in the movie. One was the creature in its adult phase, and the other was in the younger stage, where they are much smaller. The younger ones might not be able to kill a human individually, but in a large flock, they can do a lot of damage.

Because Riddick has a history of escaping in hijacked spacecraft, Johns warns Fry against putting in the power cells until the last minute. Fry, on the other hand, is relieved to have someone else who knows how to drive a spaceship. Riddick tells Fry all about Johns and his fraud during a conversation between the two.

He turns out to be a bounty hunter with a terrible drug addiction, rather than a cop. He admits that he is not a cop when Fry confronts him with her discoveries. In fact, his morphine addiction is clear, and Fry is beginning to wonder what more he is concealing! The eclipse has begun to fall upon the earth, and the group tries to get the solar-powered vehicle off the ground as soon as possible.

But darkness takes over faster than they expected, and soon the planet transitions from twilight to pitch black! The moment it is dark enough, we hear the squeals of young alien creatures flying in the sky.

Everyone seeks refuge in the cargo hold cabin, but Sharon and Riddick fall behind. When a flock of these alien creatures passes over them, Riddick lies low, but Sharon panics. She tries to run but is ripped apart by these creatures. Riddick removes his goggles and allows his eyes to get used to the darkness.

After another of Imam’s sons falls prey to the creatures, they realize that the creature has no eyes and detects the prey by receiving the echo from its body. The darkness seems to be long-lasting, and Johns’ plan to try and wait out the eclipse doesn’t seem to be so clever considering what happened to the geologists who had tried the same!

They decide to move, and Riddick leads the way with his night-vision. He warns the group to avoid any cuts or wounds because the creatures seem to be drawn to the scent of blood. Jack is alarmed at this, and we soon find out why!

It turns out that he is actually a girl who wanted to pose as a boy for safe travel, and she is bleeding, drawing the aliens attention. Paris falls next when he drops a flashlight, and the creatures tear him apart.

Riddick is enraged by Johns’ suggestion that Jack be used as bait for the aliens to save the others. Riddick cuts him with his knife after they struggle. As an injured Johns reaches for his rifle, the beasts swoop down on him and devour him in seconds.

The others observe the alien creatures fighting overhead, turning to cannibalism after years of famine, as they run down a canyon. Riddick appears to be heartlessly abandoning one of Imam’s boys when the aliens assault him, but when Jack is attacked, Riddick fights back.

He saves Jack, but just as things were beginning to look up, it began to rain, putting their light sources in jeopardy. Imam’s last son is snatched by the creatures, and Riddick somehow manages to find a cave for the survivors to hide in. He then tries to leave in the spaceship, but Fry stops him, forcing him to go back for the others.

Riddick is attacked by two aliens while Imam, Jack, Fry, and Riddick head for the spacecraft. Fry returns to save him, but she is killed, and Riddick, who is injured, gets to board the starship.

The brilliant light from the craft kills several of the alien creatures that had surrounding them when he turns on the engines. Riddick offers telling the authorities that he died on the planet when Jack asks what they should tell the authorities about him.

Aside from the fact that he wants to escape away from the authorities, this moment also implies that Riddick has grown into a loving human as a result of this experience.

The Arrival of the Brutal and Powerful Necromongers

The Arrival of the Brutal and Powerful Necromongers

The film begins with a voice-over implying the full dominance of an evil warrior species known as the Necromongers. Lord Marshal Zhylaw, the armies’ sixth leader, is in charge of them. He had discovered that he would be slain by a Furyan, which prompted him to embrace the Necromongers’ darkest mindset.

The Necromongers think that life is incompatible with the natural world. They believe in the Underverse, a promised afterlife, and their fleet travels from planet to planet, enforcing their beliefs. They also follow a protocol that allows them to keep what they kill!

It is also believed that Zhylaw had actually been to the Underverse, which made him lose his sanity and humanity. He is somewhere between living and dead, and he has some special powers that make him extremely dangerous. He has sought to convert everyone to his own faith, and anyone who didn’t obey faced certain death.

We see a long-haired Riddick running through a snowy planet with a spaceship in pursuit. A mercenary named Toombs and his crew want to hunt Riddick downto secure the hefty bounty on his head, placed by someone on the planet Helion Prime.

Riddick runs into a cave system, and the spacecraft follows. But Riddick proceeds to kill the crew one by one, and Toombs is thrown from his own ship. Riddick then takes control of the ship and flies off to Helion Prime. Guess who made the bounty offer on him? It was the religious man that he had saved in the first movie, Imam.

He has a new family now with his wife and daughter, and he informs Riddick about the fate of Jack, the girl who had pretended to be a boy in Pitch Black. She had run off looking for Riddick, and ended up killing a few people before being put in prison. She is reportedly being held captive on a planet named Crematoria, where the harsh and scorching weather conditions makes life very unpleasant.

Aereon, a ghost-like apparition, appears at Imam’s house and recounts the atrocities brought by the Necromongers. They ask Riddick for assistance in dealing with the impending threat, but he appears uninterested.

The gathering is interrupted by the planet’s guards, who attempt to force their way in after getting information that an escaped inmate is present. Riddick, on the other hand, proves to be a tad too powerful for the guards, and kills them utilising his dark combat skills.

At this point, the Necromonger fleet begins to attack Helion Prime. They slaughter the defenses of the planet, and the Necromongers storm out of their spacecrafts, killing everything they find. When they come across Imam and his family, he lures them away, and gets killed trying to save his wife and daughter.

The Necromongers gather the remaining people in the town hall, and we see the main leaders among them. Apart from the Lord Marshal, Vaako and his wife hold important positions, and so does the Purifier. The latter explains the rules of their race, stating that those who do not convert will be killed.

When one of the townsmen protests, Lord Marshal approaches him and removes his soul. This shocking death stuns the others, and they simply bow down to the supremacy of the Necromongers.

Riddick refuses to bow in front of the leaders, and Vaako confronts him with an ultimatum. Riddick refuses, pointing to a powerful soldier with two axes and requesting the opportunity to fight him. This is the man who murdered Imam, and his armour still bears Imam’s dagger. Riddick’s electrifying manoeuvres prove too much for him, and he stabs him with the knife.

Lord Marshal is taken aback by the fight’s outcome, declaring that Riddick simply murdered his best man with ease. Vaako is ordered to transport Riddick to the main ship, where everyone is undergoing conversion.

Lord Marshal is curious about Riddick’s origins and employs a machine to examine him. The machine starts to scream excitedly that Riddick is a Furion, and he must be killed immediately. But Riddick manages to fight his way out of the ship and gets outside.

A Necromonger battleship giveschase briefly, but suddenly we see it being shot down by another spacecraft. It turns out that Toombs hadn’t given up on his target, and has assembled a new crew to capture Riddick from the heart of the Necromonger regime!

Their plan is to take Riddick to the prison planet Crematoria, where Jack is also being held. It is so hot that merely stepping on the surface would make one burst into flames, and Toombs intends to collect the money on Riddick’s head from there.

Meanwhile, Lord Marshal assigns Vaako the task of tracking down and killing Riddick personally. Vaako is taken aback by the prominence accorded to just one guy, and Marshal explains that he was warned that a Furyan would be responsible for his killing.

After Marshal ordered the extinction of the Furyan race, Riddick is the only one surviving, and he wants him dead as quickly as possible. Vaako complies with the order, but his wife persuades him to assassinate the Lord Marshal and seize control of the Necromongers.

Vaako sets out to find Riddick with the thought stuck in his brain. We watch Toombs and his men transport Riddick to Crematoria, where the director of the prison offers him to stay the night so they can talk about the situation.

As they discuss terms, Riddick wanders around the prison looking for Jack and even finds her. She tells him all about her past life as a convict after she killed the mercenaries who took her in as a slave. She goes by the name Kyra now, and not Jack.

Riddick tells her about his plans of escaping the planet, and we see the Sun pattern on the surface of the planet. There is partial shade at times, but the Sun comes back and burns everything in no time. While they decide on their plans, there is a feud between Toombs and his men and the Prison Director.

They end up killing each other, and Riddick releases several other prisoners, telling them about his plans, which involve going back up on the surface, whichis clearly dangerous. They must get to Toombs spaceship, but a group of mercenaries is trying to do the same, using underground passageways.

This group is greeted by a small army of Necromongers, led by Vaako. A gunfight ensues between them, and Riddick and the other prisoners watch from the mountains. But this lapse in time is crucial because the sunrays are closing in quickly. Eventually, Kyra is taken prisoner, and Riddick is knocked out by Vaako.

He gets burned by the sunrays, and the Necromongers depart with their captive. Riddick is startled to discover the Purifier when he wakes up. He’s taken off his Necromonger armour, revealing that he’s a Furyan who was forcibly converted. He steps out into the sun, bursting in flames, leaving his armour for Riddick.

Riddick dons Necromonger armour and travels to Helion Prime aboard Toomb’s vessel. When Vaako’s wife notices the blazing eyes behind the armour, his true nature is exposed. She has her own ambitions and instructs Vaako to allow Riddick to nearly kill Lord Marshal. It would therefore be simple for Vaako to assassinate the Marshal and take over as the new leader.

Riddick confronts Lord Marshal in the throne room, and he is shocked to find that Kyra has been converted. There is a hole in her neck, and she is clearly one of them now! Riddick and Lord Marshal engage in a vicious fight, but it turns out that the latter has special skills that make him supremely agile.

He pins Riddick down and tries to remove his soul. However, just in time, Kyra jumps in to help and stabs him in the back. Riddick is saved, but Lord Marshal kills Kyra, impaling her onto a pole.

Vaako steps into the fight, and instead of attacking Riddick, he takes on Lord Marshal. Marshal utilises his teleportation abilities to avoid Vaako’s axe, but Riddick kills him by stabbing him in the brain.

Aereon approaches Riddick at the end of the film and tells him about the ultimate Necromonger philosophy: you keep what you murder! Riddick is definitely the new lord of the Necromongers, and everyone else bows down to him.

Riddick loses everything and is left for dead!

Riddick loses everything and is left for dead!

Riddick is now the new Lord Marshal of the Necromongers, as we witnessed in the previous film. He, on the other hand, isn’t very good at dealing with power. He hasn’t sworn into the Necromonger faith in the five years since the occurrence.

Many people are distrustful of his motives as a result of this, and criticism is spreading by the day. Many of his subordinates plot assassination attempts, and while he foils each one, he is dissatisfied with his leadership role. At this point, he strikes a pact with Commander Vaako, who has had his eye on the throne for quite some time.

According to their deal, Vaakois to provide Riddick with a location for Furya and a spaceship to take him there. In return, Riddick would make him the next Lord Commander. Riddick is joined by Krone and a few Necromongers who accompany him for the trip.

They reach a desolate planet, but Riddick soon finds out that it is not Furya. His escort party tries to assassinate him, but Riddick kills most of them in a fight. However, Krone causes a landslide during the battle that ends up burying Riddick alive.

We see him emerge with a broken leg, and he is forced to face the vicious native predators. These creatures come in all shapes and sizes, from flying ones to water animals and beasts that are absolutely ruthless.

An injured Riddick is no match for them, and he decides to hide amidst some abandoned ruins. There is a vast land beyond the rocky region, but the passage is guarded by deadly scorpion-like creatures called Mud Demons.

These creatures lie dormant for much of the year and emerge when the rains arrive. They must have keep their skin wet at all times, and usually, they reside within the ground in pools of water.

Their tails are their most powerful weapons, as they can grip or stab their prey with them, and their bite is also fairly deadly. Males have a red stripe across their bodies, while females are usually one continuous hue. They have a penchant for surviving in the face of adversity, and in one scene, Riddick disembowels a Mud Demon, despite the fact that it survives.

Riddick begins to build immunity to their lethal poison over time. To deal with these beasts, he begins to make his own weapons and even raises a jackal pup to fight with him. They vanquish the Mud Demons and flee into the vast Savannah beyond the rocky outcroppings.

But storms seem imminent, and Riddick realizes that the incoming rains will bring about more of the creatures he just fought. In desperation, he activates an emergency beacon that lets his identity andpresence on the planet be known.

However, it draws in two rogue ships owned and operated by mean bounty hunters. One of the ships is led by Santana, and the other is led by a more professional fighter named Johns. Riddick threatens them to leave one of the ships if they want to escape safely, but the warning is clearly not heeded. Johns and Santana team up to ambush Riddick and shoot him with heavy tranquilizers. His loyal pet jackal tries to protect his master but is shot dead by Santana.

We find that Johns is the father of Pitch Black’s bounty hunter, William J. Johns. He interrogates Riddick to find out what happened to his son, but the storms have already arrived.

More Mud Demons emerge from the mud and attack all of them. Santana is hell-bent on killing Riddick in order to earn the prize on his head, but Johns agrees to release him so they can locate an escape route. In a struggle, Riddick beheads Santana to avenge the loss of his beloved jackal.

The group tries to retrieve the power nodes and take off on hoverbikes. However, one of Johns’ accomplices tries to kill them both while Riddick is telling the bounty hunter all about his son. In the fight, the accomplice is killed, but the hoverbikes are both damaged.

Johns and Riddick have to fight hordes of Mud Demons, and in the uneven fight, Riddick is badly wounded. Johns abandons him and takes both the power nodes to fly off. The fight gets worse as more and more creatures attack. It looks like it is finally the end of the road for Riddick, and he will certainly be killed.

On an unexpected change of events, Johns reappears in one of the spaceships, and Riddick is saved. He compliments Johns for being a better man than his son and then departs on the other ship. Johns chooses not to inquire about Riddick’s whereabouts, forgiving him for the murder of his son. Riddick takes to the skies, presumably in search of his home planet, Furya.

Mysteries around Riddick’s Species and the Furyans – Explained

Mysteries around Riddick’s Species and the Furyans – Explained

You must be curious about Riddick’s race after witnessing his heroics or anti-heroics! What gives him his superhuman strength and abilities? Clearly, this is the character who has wowed us with his carefree attitude and badass personality in the movies.

The Furyans are just people who live on the planet Furya, which has difficult living circumstances. It was necessary to develop specific survival skills in order to survive on this world, and this is how the Furyans developed their amazing physical powers. According to legend, they are one of the Four Elder Races, and they are far more robust than the inhabitants of other worlds.

The Furyans are known as powerful and spiritual warriors, and their fate was sealed as result of a prophecy. A Commander in the Necromonger ranks named Zhylaw learned that a young male Furyan would eventually kill him.

This made him undertake a large-scale genocidal assault on the planet which terminated all Furyan life – all except Riddick, who grew up to be unusually powerful and stealthy. His muscles had way more power than those of other humans, and it is believed that Riddick housed the collective Necromonger rage that was created from the entireFuryan race being slaughtered.

He was probably strangled along with the other newborns, but he survived the onslaught after being left for dead. He had no recollection of his history and believed his mother had tried to strangle him before abandoning him in a garbage can. He had frequent visions of another Furyan survivor named Shirah, but he dismissed them as a symptom of mental illness.

He began getting into legal trouble at an early age and quickly rose to prominence as a notorious criminal whom everyone was attempting to apprehend. He has spent years in numerous prisons, but he always manages to find his way out.

The Insanely Awesome Riddick Animated Short – The Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Fury

The Insanely Awesome Riddick Animated Short – The Chronicles of Riddick Dark Fury

Many people are unaware that there is an incredible animated short film based on the character of Riddick in addition to the three feature features. This film, which was released in 2004, serves as a bridge between Pitch Black and The Chronicles of Riddick.

After Riddick, Imam, and Jack have escaped the hostile planet, the adventure begins. A mercenary spaceship follows them, and Riddick tries to pass himself off as William J. Jones. The ruse fails, however, since they quickly run voice-print matches and recognise him for who he really is.

Riddick is eventually vanquished after a fierce but brief battle. Jack is apprehended as well, and they realise they’ve just gotten away from one peril just to face another.

The owner of the spaceship is Antonia Chillingsworth, and she has some rather strange plans for them. She collects notorious criminals for her prized collection and keeps them in a frozen state.

Even in this condition, the criminals retain their consciousness, and they are helpless statues of art for the psycho lady. Riddick is a prized possession for her, and she thinks of him as the masterpiece in the collection.

Unless Jack, Imam, and Riddick can fight an army of aliens and humans that Antonia unleashes at them, they will suffer a fate worse than death. You even get to see Toombshere before formally meeting him in The Chronicles of Riddick. He pursues Riddick for a while, and his gang of bounty hunters accompanies him.

We get to see a harsh and nasty side of Jack in this animated short video. She shoots Antonia just before she is ready to kill Riddick at a time of crisis. As a result, she not only saves Riddick, but also demonstrates her character’s impending criminal transformation. It’s worth noting that we see her as a prisoner in Crematoria in the next film.

The three are finally free of the mercenaries, and Riddick has a surprise in store for Imam and Jack. He transports them to a pilgrimage spot where he believes they will be secure, and then sets out on his own, as he does every time.

    Future of the Franchise

    Future of the Franchise

The Riddick films aren’t simply fun sci-fi adventures; they also provide Vin Diesel a chance to show off his acting chops. People adore his portrayal of the anti-hero because he just nails the ethically difficult character.

As a result, it’s a widespread concern whether the franchise will see more films with Diesel in the starring role. There’s some exciting news for you! We’ve learned that Riddick 4 is very much in the works, with director David Twohy and Vin Diesel reuniting for the fourth time. Furya is the working title for the film, which has been postponed for years.

The earliest discussions regarding such a film took place in 2015, with filming set to begin in 2017. However, the plans didn’t work out, and Vin Diesel being an in-demand star didn’t help the schedule. In 2019, the star himself stepped up to assauge fears for fans who started thinking that the project was canceled.

According to sources, David Twohy was in the last stages of touching up the script at the time, and he ultimately presented the finished product to Vin Diesel in the summer of 2020. The megastar was ecstatic with the updated draught, and filming is set to begin later this year.

Although no official release dates have been confirmed, knowing that Vin Diesel will be filming Fast & Furious 10 in 2022, we believe that this film will be made. Let’s simply cross our fingers and hope for Riddick’s comeback.
