The network terminated the show after only one season due to a tense cliffhanger. To show their support for the series, fans mailed nearly nine tonnes of peanuts to the network (“nuts” was a major line in the show’s finale). It was eventually revived for a second season by CBS.

Season 1 aired in eight parts on ITV in the United Kingdom in August 2019. It premiered on PBS in the United States on January 12, 2020. The show was canceled in 2019, but it was reinstated thanks to fan support and high ratings on PBS. The show was renewed for two more seasons by PBS. Second-run rights for seasons 2 and 3 will go to BritBox, ITV, and the BBC’s streaming platform.
The first season of Sandition follows Charlotte Heywood (Rose Williams) when she arrives in Sanditon, a seaside village on the verge of a major transformation. Charlotte wants to see everything the town has to offer at first, but she is surprised by the town’s cunning and ambitious residents.
Charlotte fights with his attractive but wild younger brother Sidney when she is blunt about the family of eager entrepreneur Tom Parker (Kris Marshall) (Theo James). Unfortunately, the first season of Sanditon does not have the joyful conclusion that Austen’s readers—and viewers—had come to expect! According to certain UK media outlets, audiences were dissatisfied with the last episode because it seemed “un-Austen-like.”
Seasons 2 and 3 of Sanditon, based on Jane Austen’s unfinished novel, have been picked up by PBS.
