Section Eight, the next action movie from Vigilante Diaries and Take Back director Christian Sesma, is now in production. Ryan Kwanten (True Blood), Dolph Lundgren (Black Water), Dermot Mulroney (Hanna), Scott Adkins (Debt Collectors), and Mickey Rourke star in the Exchange-funded movie (Take Back, Double Team).
Lundgren and Adkins will be collaborating for the fifth time in Section Eight. The two previously joined up for the monster thriller Legendary in 2013, and they co-starred in The Expendables 2 and Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning in 2012. Most recently, they appeared opposite one another in Castle Falls.
Along with the Blue October singer Justin Furstenfeld, who makes his acting debut in Section Eight, the movie also stars Robert LaSardo (Death Race), Maurice Compte (Narcos), Geoffrey Blake (Midway), Paul Sloan (Vigilante Diaries), Mary Christina Brown (Vigilante Diaries), and others.
In Section Eight, a former soldier is depicted who, after exacting revenge for the murder of his family, gets released from jail and hired by a mysterious government organization (via Deadline).
On September 23, 2022, the movie will have a limited theatrical run and air on AMC+.
Is “Section Eight” based on a true story?
“Section Eight” is based on a true story. Dolph Lundgren continues to take hits. Lundgren will feature in the upcoming action movie Section Eight, along with Scott Adkins and Ryan Kwanten, according to a report published today in The Hollywood Reporter.
A former soldier serving time in jail after exacting retribution on those who murdered his family will be the focus of Section Eight. A secret government organization breaks the soldier out of jail and sends him on an impromptu expedition when they need his assistance.
Christian Sesma of Pay Dirt and The Night Crew and Firebrand will direct and produce the movie, which is based on an original script by Chad Law (The Hit List, Drive Hard) and Josh Ridgway (The Sector, Howlers).
While Lundgren and Adkins (Boyka: Undisputed) will not be facing Kwanten (True Blood) for the first time in this match, it will be for the former two. After starring together in The Expendables 2, Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning, Legendary, and the unreleased Castle Falls, Lundgren and Adkins will now add a fifth appearance to their collective filmography.
Brandon Burrows, the CEO of Firebrand, stated this about this formidable trio: “We are beyond thrilled to welcome such a fantastic cast to Section Eight. We can’t wait to watch Dolph, Scott, and Ryan compete on the big screen since each of them has such a special skill.” These opinions will be shared by action enthusiasts everywhere.
And the news of this new movie is another recent endeavor for all the males. Lundgren recently served as the director, producer, and star of the holiday comedies Pups Alone and Castle Falls. He is also preparing to return to the role of King Nereus in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. In addition, he just stated that he will be appearing in the fourth Expendables movie.
Adkins has been equally as busy this year, having just finished Day Shift, a new Netflix feature that also stars Jamie Foxx, and is now shooting John Wick: Chapter 4 and One Shot. They appear to have recruited Hollywood’s busiest triumvirate since even Kwanten has been adding projects left and right. Kwanten has recently appeared in Sacred Lies on Blumhouse Television, The Oath on Crackle, and the drama series Kindred on FX.
We will be lucky to have another action masterpiece from three of Hollywood’s top performers given their busy schedules.
