    When Is Smile (2022) Releasing?

    An ominous teaser trailer for Top Gun: Maverick and David Cronenberg’s Crimes of the Future is playing in theatres now, piqueing interest in the film’s enigmatic premise. The trailer for Paramount Player’s new horror film Smile, previously known as Something’s Wrong With Rose, depicts a woman going by a hospital ward where a man remains immobile, his face fixated on an impossibly wide grin. The man seemed unresponsive to the woman, and he isn’t the only one wearing a terrifying grin. The teaser that was shared on social media, however, is a condensed version that only shows brief clips of a man sitting in a hospital ward and a woman with a sinister smile.

    As Rose, a psychiatrist haunted by what she thinks to be otherworldly forces, Sosie Bacon will lead the cast in her debut major role in a studio picture. She begins to see odd phenomena that only she can see after a bizarre event with a patient. Throughout the film, Rose becomes increasingly convinced that the entity pursuing her is evil and possibly supernatural.

    Parker Finn wrote and directed Smile, which is based on his short horror film Laura Hasn’t Slept from 2020. Laura, played by Caitlin Stasey (Reign), was a lady seeking help from her therapist for a recurring nightmare in the eleven-minute film. The short earned positive reviews and even won the special jury Midnight Short award at the SXSW Film Festival. Stasey returns for the feature-length picture and may be seen in the disturbing promotional photos as the woman smiling, however little is known about her character in the film.

    Bacon debuted in 2005’s Loverboy, directed by her father Kevin Bacon and starring her mother Kyra Sedgwick; nevertheless, she rose to prominence in Netflix’s teen drama 13 Reasons Why as Skye Miller, a wise barista. Bacon then went on to star in MTV’s Scream: The TV Series, an anthology series based on Wes Craven’s Scream franchise, and more recently in HBO’s Emmy-winning crime drama Mare of Easttown, with Kate Winslet.

    Kyle Gallner, a recognizable face to 2000s horror aficionados, joins Bacon in the psychological horror. Starring roles in 2009’s Haunting in Connecticut, the cult classic Jennifer’s Body with Megan Fox, 2010’s A Nightmare on Elm Street remake, and most recently Scream, the fifth part of the Ghostface trilogy, the actor has built a name for himself in the genre.

    Smile will be released on September 30th, just in time for the Halloween season to begin. Other cast members for the film include Rob Morgan, Jessie T. Usher, Judy Reyes, and Kal Penn, in addition to Bacon, Stasey, and Gallner.
