The teaser for the new Belgian series ‘Soil’ has been released on Netflix. “It’s not about money, it’s about people,” says the new teaser, revealing a critical sentence that reveals the show’s philosophy. This series was created and produced in Belgium, but it is important to note that it is mostly about Moroccans living in the nation. A whole set up for the dark comedy series has been given. Before we get into the story, we’d like to point out that when a Muslim individual dies in Belgium, he leaves all of his relatives in a difficult situation. In Dutch, this show is known as Grand, and it also has episodes.
The series’ plot revolves around a family business. It’s about a young entrepreneur who, after taking over his father’s business, devised a brave yet hazardous proposal to import soil from Morocco to bury his departed village. “Do we bury him here or in his own country?” asks Ismael, who goes by the nickname “Smile.” After coming up with a solution, “What if we bring soil from Morocco into Belgium to bury our deceased?” he unwittingly opens Pandora’s box.
Yassine Ouaich, Charlotte De Bruyne, Barbera Sarafian, Tom Vermeir, Saif Boumazoughe, MouradeZeguendi, Ahlaam Teghadouini, Dries Heyneman, Ward Kerremans, Emilie De Roo, and Wannes Cappelle are among the artists featured in this series. Filmmakers Mathieu Mortelmans, Adil El Arbi, and Bilall Fallah directed it.
Zouzou Ben Chuikha, Wannes Cappelle, and Dries Heynemen collaborated on the script. It was made in conjunction with Netflix and telnet and was produced by Lumiere, a Gent-based company, after being commissioned by VIER. Last year, in late 2021, VIER broadcasted the first episode of this series in Belgium.
