12 Super-Cool And Powerful Vehicles In Sci-Fi And Fantasy Movies

When it comes to technology or the future, science fiction and fantasy films have a habit of being a little too creative. We’ve seen several intriguing automobiles and vehicles that have left the audience shocked with their powers and capacities in the crosswinds between visions of the future and some frightening moments. In fact, these famous cars are featured prominently in numerous sci-fi or superhero films.

When it comes to the powers and designs of these vehicles, the inventors were rather inventive. These cars have achieved the inconceivable, from going across time to soaring through the skies! In this video, we’ve compiled a list of super-cool automobiles from popular films that will thrill all automotive enthusiasts out there!

The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen –  THE NAUTILUS CAR

The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen -  THE NAUTILUS CAR

The film is set in an alternate Victorian Age world where the planet is threatened by a crazy warlord known as the Fantom. Allan Quatermain, a legendary explorer, gathers a unique collection of individuals to combat this overwhelming threat.

All of the characters in the team have some special powers, and it includes an invisible man, an ageless and invincible character, a secret service agent, an inventor, and the deadly split personality of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. They embark upon a secret mission to save the world from impending doom!

The film is based on a comic book, and many fans were disappointed with the alterations made to the plot. The narrative is somewhat unworkable and implausible, despite the characters being prototypes of their literary forefathers. This film also allows you to appreciate Sean Connery’s genius, as he postponed his retirement to be a part of it.

He didn’t get along well with director Stephen Norrington, and the two had a lot of creative disagreements. However, it did not do well at the box office, owing to the fact that it was released on the same weekend as Pirates of the Caribbean! One thing you cannot miss about this film is the jaw-dropping submarine that was created and captained by Captain Nemo.

It was called the Nautilus, and Nemo used it to explore the oceans and even sink warships in his battle against imperialism. The Nautilus shown in the movie bears little resemblance to the comic book version, and it is a silver-colored, blade-shaped beast of a machine.

The first instance of the Nautilus can be traced back to Jules Verne’s famous novel 20000 Leagues Under the Sea, and since then, several modifications have been made in the design of this formidable watercraft!

Ford Crown Victoria (Men In Black, 1997)

Ford Crown Victoria (Men In Black, 1997)

The commercial agency MiB is in charge of monitoring extraterrestrial contacts on Earth. Agent K, one of the agency’s best agents, is looking for fresh recruits and picks James Edwards, an NYPD cop. When an alien bug crash lands on the Earth with the intention of seeking the super energy source called the Galaxy, Agent K and Agent J must work together to stop the bug before it is too late!

The Men in Black film’s legacy speaks for itself. It even earned an Academy Award for Best Makeup, and we were entertained by Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones’ outstanding performances. This fast-paced action comedy is one of the finest sci-fi comedies ever made, with outstanding makeup effects.

The primary villain is one of the most terrifying things you’ll ever see, yet the comedy is constant enough to keep you entertained. We also can’t get past Agent K’s amazing car from the moment he recruited Agent J. This car was a 1987 Ford LTD Crown Victoria and was a sight to behold! It was a modified version that was being used as a standard-issue vehicle by MiB.

The car could reconfigure to display the twin rear-exhaust thrusters that could give it insanely high speeds. In fact, the car could even defy gravity, and in one scene, you can see the car ride along the roof of a tunnel to avoid traffic. If only such cars could exist in reality!

    Knight Rider (K.I.T.T.)

    Knight Rider (K.I.T.T.)

Knight Rider is a well-known name among automobile aficionados, and the show was a hit on television before being adapted into a feature picture. It’s about an undercover officer who gets hurt while on one of his operations. He is nursed back to health and resurfaces as Michael Knight, a new man.

He is provided with equipment and a virtually indestructible supercar, K.I.I.T. This high-performance car is also fitted with artificial intelligence, and Michael uses it to continue his crime-fighting spree.

It is self-evident that the automobile takes centre stage in this tale, whether it is a TV show or a full film. We’re mostly recognised with David Hasselhoff as the mysterious crime fighter, and the multipurpose K.I.T.T. was a black Pontiac Firebird Trans Am T-top car. K.I.T.T. was preceded by K.A.R.R. in the beginning, but this automated roaming robot was found to be harmful and was deactivated.

The vehicle is primarily programmed to protect Michael, as well as any other human life. The panels include a plethora of functionality that may be accessed by just pressing a button. The finest feature of this automobile is the self-aware cybernetic logic module, which gives it its own mind. It would obey all orders till it didn’t violate its prime principle of protecting human life.

The car is immune to any form of explosives or firearms, and only heavy artillery or rockets can do some damage. The turbo boost is another shocking feature in this car, and this allows the car to reach speeds over 200 MPH. There are several other features, such as the electronic jamming system that allows K.I.T.T. to take control of electronic machines in the vicinity.

It is also armed with a wide variety of weapons and defense systems to repel rockets. Overall, it is almost a superhero in itself, and it is no surprise that the Knight Rider brand got such a big thumbs-up from the fans!

    Mach 5 (Speed Racer, 2008)

    Mach 5 (Speed Racer, 2008)

Speed Racer is one of the younger racers that aspires to be the racing world’s champion. His ambition is to win the Crucible, a cross-country automobile race in which his older brother died. The races are being rigged, and Speed understands that he has a long way to go before he can taste triumph.

However, on his side, he has the genius designing of his father who made the Mach 5. With his family business on the wire, he must win the race against all odds with his super fast vehicle.

Speed Racer is a misunderstood film by Lana and Lilly Wachowski that portrays the genuine spirit of a family in distress. The special effects are incredible, and if you can get beyond the cheesiness of the plot, this is a fantastic family storey. The racing elements were almost too fantastic to be true, and they came with a deliciously realistic sound that amplified the race vehicles’ sound.

The acting isn’t great, but the actual star is the Mach 5, an automotive machine capable of being the undisputed winner on a racetrack. This two-seater automobile has a top speed of over 250 mph and an open roof design that makes it stand out. You will find some features that almost make this car invincible on a race track. For instance, the Auto-Jacks can allow quick repairs and also help quick leaps at high speed.

A special grip belt tire allows traction over any harsh terrain, and the cutter blade helps in sawing through obstacles! It is also a fortress because the deflector control makes the cockpit bullet and crash-proof besides being water-tight. The car can even function underwater for as long as thirty minutes. Mach 5 alone makes this movie a must-watch for all the car enthusiasts out there!

    Ghost Rider’s Bike (Hell Cycle)

    Ghost Rider's Bike (Hell Cycle)

The Ghost Rider storey is well-known, both in comic books and in the film starring Nicholas Cage and Eva Mendes. Many years ago, Johny Blaze sold his soul to the demon in order to preserve the life of a loved one. He now has an opportunity to reclaim his soul.

He must defeat the evil son of the demon and take up his Ghost Rider form one more time. Johny will have his blazing mode of transport one more time and use it to get back his life the way he wants it!

According to Marvel legend, Mephisto created the Hell Cycle to assist his bounty hunters, the Spirits of Vengeance. It is the most frequent vehicle utilised by Ghost Riders, and it defies the rules of physics. It is propelled by Hellfire, allowing it to travel at rapid speeds.

There’s nothing the Hell Cycle can’t do, from riding through water to flying through the skies. The Hell Cycle is devoted to the Ghost Rider, and it will carry out his commands even when he is not riding it. For the movie, an actual bike was made, and it is a custom built chopper that one can barely ride.

With over eleven feet in length and with a weight of over five hundred pounds, it would be almost impossible for one person to ride it without assistance. You obviously cannot imagine riding such a bike, but seldom have we seen something cooler being fashioned by the designers!

Light Cycle (5th generation) (Tron: Legacy)

Light Cycle (5th generation) (Tron Legacy)

Following the success of Tron, a sequel, Tron: Legacy, was released, marking Joseph Kosinski’s directorial debut. The plot follows Sam, Kevin Flynn’s son, as he attempts to unravel the mystery behind his father’s absence.

This takes him to the digital world, where he must face unspeakable dangers to get to his father. Will he find him? Can he bring him back to the real world? Well, watch the movie to find out!

The Light Cycle 5th generation is an improved version of what you’ve seen previously! It has the appearance of a genuine motorbike and even has headlights, allowing the software to work in low-light conditions.

Unlike earlier versions, this model’s front and back wheels are the same size. Its liquid energy-infused mechanism allows it to move as quickly as lightning. The speed can even be enhanced by pushing the front or rear wheels further apart. Besides the realistic design of the Light Cycle, the makers even added realistic problems associated with a direct collision, in which case the rider can sustain injuries that you expect in the real-world.

Daniel Simon deserves all the praise for his remarkable design in the movie, and this 5th generation Light Cycle was loved by the fans of Tron for its swashbuckling nature.

    The Wraith’s Car (The Wraith)

    The Wraith's Car (The Wraith)

Packard Walsh is the vicious head of a motorised gang that terrorises a sleepy Arizona desert hamlet. They challenge drivers to compete in drag races in order to gain control of their automobiles.

Walsh has a thing for one of the town’s females and kills her boyfriend for having an affair with her. Jake, a fascinating and intriguing figure, appears soon after, riding his amazing bike and driving an unseen vehicle.

The spirit of the dead boyfriend has descended through him, and he methodically starts eliminating members of the gang who were responsible for his death. Can he get to Packard Walsh and do something that even the Sheriff failed to do?

Even having a nonsensical narrative, this film is pure 80s pleasure and nostalgia that will offer you pure delight. Although the majority of the film is as cheesy as a double cheese-burst pizza, the very amazing car makes it worthwhile to see! As the protagonist, celebrity Charlie Sheen gives a memorable performance.

The film’s addictive 80s music is also a fantastic bonus, and it has earned cult status among spectators over time. Most of the time, the gorgeous and mystical cars you see in movies are just that: make-believe. However, The Wraith featured a Dodge M4S, which is considered to be a highly sophisticated vehicle. It was powered by a Chrysler 2.2 liter four-cylinder engine and could reach speeds of over 194mph.

It took over $1.1 million to get the car together, and the makers used it for some breathtaking stunts. In fact, one such stunt involving a chase sequence on a mountainside caused an accident resulting in the death of a crew member! The efforts paid off, and this movie has some of the best car-chase scenes that you will ever find!

The Black Beauty (The Green Hornet)

The Black Beauty (The Green Hornet)

After his father passes away, Britt Reid inherits his father’s very successful business. Britt, who was formerly a carefree playboy, allies up with his father’s helper Kato and becomes a masked vigilante as a result of his newfound power.

For amusement, he transforms into the Green Hornet and battles manufactured crime all around the city. However, what started as just another game for Britt becomes a hard reality when a notorious kingpin starts to pursue him. The police, too, are looking for the man behind the mask, and Britt must come to terms with these changes as fast as possible!

Several efforts have been made to replicate The Green Hornet’s magic. They’ve created everything from TV shows to radio podcasts using the same technology. In terms of the film itself, The Green Hornet fails terribly as a superhero picture! You will have a lot of fun if you do it as a parody intended to entertain the audience.

The events and characters are funny, and the campy aspect of the storey doesn’t bother you when it contributes to the enjoyment. The picture benefits from a great ensemble that includes Cameron Diaz and Seth Rogen. There’s also an interesting vehicle dubbed Black Beauty that adds to the film’s aesthetic appeal! This car is driven by Britt’s chauffeur and assistant, Kato.

The movie version shows that the car is armed with M1919 Machine guns that are mounted on the hood. It also has a flamethrower and stinger missiles alongside M2 20-gauge shotguns! Besides such serious weaponry, the car also has retractable front wheel anti-riot spikes and door guns to defend against an enemy! You could take it to Omaha beach and win against the Germans in World War 2, let alone defeating a puny villain in a movie!

    Batfleck’s Batmobile (Batman v Superman:Dawn of Justice)

Batfleck's Batmobile (Batman v Superman Dawn of Justice)

The world begins to believe that Superman’s alien-like superpowers are unnecessary for the Earth. Even Bruce Wayne feels that if Superman’s deeds are allowed uncontrolled, he would become a threat to civilization.

Conversely, Superman feels that Batman is the reckless one and the two clash in a battle of equals! So, what happens when an unstoppable force meets with an immovable object?

This is, without a doubt, one of the most underappreciated superhero movies of all time! Despite a compelling narrative, Ben Affleck’s outstanding performance, and several breathtaking combat scenes between the Man of Steel and Batman, the film failed to please a large number of fans.

This film had numerous memorable scenes, and we were ecstatic to be present for the last battle with Doomsday! We’ve included this term on the list due of Bruce Wayne’s modified, flexible method of transportation when he battles as Batman! In the toughest battle circumstances, the Batmobile has always been his greatest ally, and this time is no exception.

The vehicle was built by Wayne Enterprises for the military, but the latter rejected it for being too expensive. Bruce modifies the vehicles to his requirement, and it has everything from speed to precision.

Armed to the teeth with high-tech missiles and guns, this beast of a vehicle is the equivalent to an entire army! The Batmobile also comes with its set of defense mechanisms that help Bruce protect himself from an attack. This vehicle is supreme enough to have a video of its own, and it is probably one of the pillars of strength that Batman thrives on!

Herbie from Herbie: Fully Loaded (2005)

Herbie from Herbie Fully Loaded (2005)

After a few defeats in key races, a Volkswagen Beetle develops its own awareness and is thrown away in a junkyard. Maggie Peyton, a member of a racing family with a long history, discovered this automobile named Herbie.

Maggie has plans to join ESPN news because her father has forbidden her from racing, but Herbie seems to have other plans. Soon, Maggie and Herbie become potential NASCAR competitors, although victory awaits them after some very tough complexities along the way!

This is a cute film that is entertaining to see as long as you don’t take it too seriously. The 1963 Volkswagen Beetle is a cool car, and Disney chooses one of the most well-known tales for a movie office blockbuster, with Lindsay Lohan as the leading lady.

However, if you are dissatisfied with her performance, the charming Herbie will steal your heart. The calming white body paint gives it an innocent appearance, which contrasts sharply with his lively, naughty demeanour.

He is childish yet ambitious and has a caring attitude towards his owner. If treated the right way, Herbie would go all out to win races, but he isn’t too kind to people who are rude to him and rub his ego the wrong way. Herbie can drive on his own because it has a mind of his own, and his presence lifted the movie up big time!

    Aston Martin DB5 – James Bond’s Car

    Aston Martin DB5 - James Bond's Car

If we started speaking about all the spectacular cars in the James Bond franchise, it would probably be a series of videos in itself! The enigmatic secret agent is known for his long-standing love for stylish cars that can do freakish stuff to get the better of the enemy.

One of the most versatile vehicles in James Bond’s arsenal has been the Aston Martin DB5, and it has appeared in multiple movies like Goldfinger, GoldenEye, Tomorrow Never Dies, Skyfall, Casino Royale, etc.

This automobile was a significant improvement over 007.’s previous Aston Martin DB4. For starters, the engines were increased in size from 3.7 to 4 litres, and the new five-speed transmission allowed for some smooth manoeuvring.

The automobile is stunning, and its elegant form is worth a further look! This automobile has undergone several modifications in order to meet the needs of James Bond. The most odd items have been dreamt up for this reason, from spinning number plates to chairs that may eject in an emergency.

It is also armed with guns, and several means of distracting the enemy are used by the sly agent to have his way! We can never forget those iconic moments where the car chase sequences would involve the majestic Aston Martin DB5! Some designs never get old, and as for this car, it has aged like fine wine!

M577 Armored Personnel Carrier (Aliens 1988)

M577 Armored Personnel Carrier (Aliens 1988)

James Cameron’s picture Aliens was a watershed moment in cinema, serving as the foundation for a slew of high-tech sci-fi films to follow! Ellen Ripley, an astronaut, survives a fatal attack by mysterious extraterrestrial beings in this narrative. After fifty-seven years, she emerges from her hyper-sleep condition and attempts to warn others about the menace of the aliens she has previously encountered.

To make matters worse, the alien creatures have taken over a space colony, and Ripley assists a team of colonial marines in fighting against these unforgiving space bugs! Can she help put an end to this absolute nightmare?

This film is a sequel to the 1979 picture Alien, and it has been recognised as a masterpiece for its flawless narrative. The characters have a human quality to them, and the ensuing deadly combat will take your breath away!

There are sequences that help to keep the scary mood alive, and situations like the one with the heart-pounding face hugger free in a medical bay steal the show! This gripping storey has a satisfying conclusion that will have you wanting to see it again and again. Another aspect that deserves a special mention in this movie is the M577 Armored Personnel Carrier that was used by the United States Colonial Marine Corps.

You can imagine this to be more of a fast-moving tank as it can fit several soldiers inside it. It is capable of hitting speeds of 50 mph and is pretty deadly with the top-mounted twin cannon. We loved it when the M577 APC ran over Xenomorphs and how it glided without any trouble over all kinds of terrain!
