Makoto Shinkai, the name doesn’t need any introduction in the anime industry. Over the years, the popular anime director and writer have delivered masterpieces that consistently lived up to everyone’s expectations.
Be it 5 Centimeters per Second or Weathering with You; he has never failed to stab deep into the viewer’s hearts through picturesque animations, engaging stories, and out-of-the-box cinematography. His next project, Suzume no Tojimari, is already in progress, and he has revealed some interesting things about it, including the release date.
About Suzume no Tojimari
This film is directed by the one and only Makoto Shinkai and is produced by CoMix Wave Films. This film’s production was announced in 2020 and was scheduled to happen between January and March of that year. However, due to the pandemic outbreak, the project was put on hold.
The script was completed in August 2020, and the story was drafted from September 2020 to December 2021. Finally, on April 20, 2021, the film’s production resumed, and the release date was set. The plot of the film has been revealed by Makoto Shinkai, and it sounds completely unique.
Suzume no Tojimari: Synopsis
Suzume no Tojimari will follow a 17-year-old girl who lives a happy life in the quiet town of Khusu. She comes across a strange young man who says that he is looking for a door. A curious Suzume follows him to discover a weathered door amidst the mountains as if it was the solitary survivor of a disaster. Soon, similar doors start appearing all over Japan, and thus, Shuzume’s door-locking adventure begins.
It’s no secret that Shinkai just loves to work on disaster-based projects. Your Name revolved around a meteor shower incident, and Weathering with You revolved around a city-wide flood in Tokyo. Things are only going to grow crazier in Suzume, no Tojimari. However, we still don’t know much about this Door of Calamity and how it will take us on an emotional rollercoaster through the silent streets of Japan.
Makoto Shinkai’s New Anime Film Suzume no Tojimari Teaser Video Released
The first glimpse at the film came in the form of a teaser poster, which was unveiled alongside the film’s announcement on December 15, 2021. On April 9th, 2022, a new update on the film was released, which revealed more information about the protagonist. Toho later released a teaser trailer for the film on April 10th, 2022. Makoto Shinkai did an excellent job of expanding on the film. According to him, the movie includes the activity of closing doors.
That could be related to tying up loose ends after finishing something. The film will take viewers on a journey through the streets of Japan, which will not only feel familiar but will also encourage them to watch it in theaters. Suzume no Tojimari is scheduled to be released in Japan on November 11th, 2022.
