Causeway Films, whose credits include Jennifer Kent’s The Babadook and The Nightingale, has inked a development overhead deal with Bankside Films.
The collection includes the horror film Talk to Me, directed by Danny and Michael Philippou, the award-winning creators of the YouTube channel RackaRacka, which has over six million subscribers.
Talk to Me is a horror film about a lonely adolescent named Mia who becomes addicted to the thrills of summoning spirits with the help of a disembodied hand. However, when Mia is faced by a soul claiming to be her deceased mother, she is haunted by strange visions and must choose between the living and the dead.
Danny Philippou is co-writing with RackaRacka collaborator Michael H Beck, and the team is joined by Causeway Films producers Samantha Jennings and Kristina Ceyton, who had the aforementioned first details on the project, which is financed with support from the South Australian Film Corporation.

RackaRacka is a Los Angeles-based YouTube channel founded and maintained by Australian twin brothers Daniel “Danny” and Michael Philippou, born on 13 November 1992. They are originally from Adelaide, South Australia. The channel is noted for its aggressive live action black humour action videos, as well as those mocking McDonald’s logo Ronald McDonald as a psychopathic killer clown with a high-pitched voice. Most of its films have been accused of featuring excessive quantities of graphic violence, obscenity, and sexual content, leading to a handful of them being flagged on YouTube and banned in a number of countries.
The project is currently in development so not much is known about the cast at this moment but RackaRacka seems to announce details every so often on Twitter, so definitely stay tuned! Seeing their YouTube videos, it will be interesting to see what they will come up with.
