Be it Japanese manga, novel, or anime- every work wins over fans. One such novel is Tatami Time Machine Blues of which is an anime television series is soon to be released. Tatami Time Machine Blues is a sequel to the novel The Tatami Galaxy, which was written by TomihikoMorimi in 2004, and published by Ohta Publishing. The novel was based on the theme of a parallel universe, covering the aspects of student life on a university campus, through participation in various societies. The novel also received an anime television series, which aired in 2010 from April to July.
The sequel was published last year in June 2020 and has characters from The Tatami Galaxy. The novel’s sequel is to get an original net animation adaptation. A Japanese animation studio- Science Saru, will be producing the series.
Before the release of the anime television series, let’s have a quick revision of the plot. The story takes us back to the college days and the issues which add both trouble and fun to campus life.
The story is about a boy, who is in his third year and studies at Kyoto University. He travels in parallel universes to check what turns his life could have taken if had made different decisions from the present. One of them included- joining a student society. In every parallel universe, he joins a society, in the hope to attain the fun he has always dreamed of.
But every time his hopes are crushed, as he faces an immense workload and gives up every time. As he joins a freshman in a society or a “circle”, he meets many students. Ozu, another batchmate, inspires him to follow a mission of the dubious military. He also develops feelings for Akashi- a second-year engineering student and makes promises of love to her.
He also meets a fortune teller, who aware him of an opportunity waiting for him. But in the end, he receives nothing and again enters into another universe, as a freshman with the aim of joining a different society.
When will season one of the anime Tatami Time Machine Blues is set to release?
It has been confirmed that the series will be released in the current year- 2022. No specific date has been mentioned for the release. The chosen platform for the animation adaptation is Disney+.
What will follow the plot of season one of the anime Tatami Time Machine Blues?
In the anime season, we will come across the protagonist and his friend Ozu. These characters will be explored in depth. The protagonist’s name also remains a mystery to be revealed in the anime. What will be the fate of Akashi, after the protagonist will enter a new world?
It will be revealed whether on joining another circle in a different universe, the protagonist sticks to the hard work, or will turn his back again? What impact will Ozu have on the protagonist and what will happen to him after the sudden disappearance of the protagonist?
The shy and submissive personality of the protagonist will change or not will also be shown. His other classmates will also be introduced in the anime season. A few of them are Seitaro Higuchi- sharing the same dorm with the protagonist, who is a wise man. Masaki Jogasaki- the President of the movie circle, of which the protagonist is a member. Ryoko Hanuki- an addict to drinking. There are other characters also whose presence will contribute to the series to give a final touch, like- Johnny, the Cat Ramen stall owner, Fortune teller, Keiko Higuchi, Aijima, and kaori.
Many voice actors have worked in the series like- Nobuyuki Hiyama, Atsushi Miyauchi, AkoMayamaSetsuji Sato, Mamiko Noto, Yuko Kaida, Junichi Suwabe, Maaya Sakamoto, Kiroyuki Yoshino, and Shintaro Asanuma.
