As Valentine’s Day nears, Hulu has decided that fans of horror will not be devoid of entertainment this year. ‘Into the Dark’ is a horror anthology series produced exclusively for Hulu by Blumhouse Productions. This series’s distinct feature is that each of its episode is released on a particular holiday and not on any regular days in between. As a result, the theme for each episode is also based on the holiday it airs on. Blumhouse Productions is known for some of the biggest films ever, most of them from the horror genre, such as ‘Get Out’ (2017), ‘Halloween’ (2018), ‘Sinister’ (2012), ‘Insidious’ (2010) and many more.
An in-depth analysis of the themes
The upcoming episode of ‘Into the Dark,’ titled ‘Tentacles,’ which is set to come out on the 14th of February, deals with terror and psychosexual themes. For those unaware, psychosexual comes from psychologist Sigmund Freud’s analysis of human development, which he referred to as “Psychosexual Development.” The idea behind it is that in each stage of growing up, humans have their sexual drives focused on different parts of the body and how they overcome it determines their personalities as adults. Although this is highly scientific, over time, the word “psychosexual” has been used in casual talk, without fully understanding it, so much that it has changed its colloquial meaning to something completely sexual.

What we can expect to see
‘Tentacles’ revolves around a young LA couple, Sam and Tara, who are very passionately in love, but things soon go sideways as they get more intimate. In its trailer, we see something brewing between the two leads that looks like an affair, but as expected, a whole lot of eerie and spooky surrounds them as strange happenings become more and more frequent. It seems that the source of all the trouble is the female lead as she unknowingly and unconsciously appears to be hurting her partner and making him hallucinate and lose his mind. The episode is based on ‘The Act’ and ‘Antlers,’ stories written by Alexandra Pechman and Nick Antosca, and is directed by Clara Aranovich based on Pechman’s screenplay. It will be starring Dana Drori, Casey Deidrick, Evan Williams as well as Kasey Elise.
