Gold Circle Films was producing the film at the time, according to The Hollywood Reporter, and a distribution agreement with Lionsgate was inked in late 2019. “The Devil’s Light” was supposed to premiere in 2021, according to Deadline, but that hasn’t occurred yet, leaving many issues unresolved.
The idea of “The Devil’s Light” piqued horror fans’ interest since it appeared to be set to explore the exorcism subgenre from a female perspective. According to Bloody Disgusting, James Hawes was set to helm the picture — which was written by Robert Zappia, who had previously authored the script for “Halloween H20: 20 Years Later” — but Daniel Stamm finally took his place. Stamm is a German filmmaker who has previously worked on horror productions including “Scream: The TV Series” and “Fear the Walking Dead.” He’s also the director of “The Last Exorcism,” another exorcism film.

Sister Ann uncovers a far more nefarious organization that not only exists within the facility, but also has vital links to her history. Sister Ann’s encounters with this demonic entity assist her in realizing her true ability as an exorcist.

As previously stated, Jacqueline Byers was cast as Sister Ann, a 25-year-old nun who aspires to learn how to perform exorcisms in a culture dominated by males. Deadline also announced that Virginia Madsen would co-star as Dr. Peters, a mentor for Sister Ann, and Ben Cross will portray Cardinal Matthews at the same time that Byers was cast.
Nicholas Ralph as Father Raymond, Christian Navarro as Father Dante, and Colin Salmon as Father Quinn play supporting roles.
Ben Cross, sadly, was one of the performers that died in the year 2020. According to Variety, the news of his death came just ten days after he concluded filming his portions for “The Devil’s Light,” the famous actor’s final performance.
