    The Hellraiser Film Franchise Needs A Reboot, And Its Spinoff The Harrowers Would Be Perfect To Be A Reboot

    Clive Barker became very disappointed with the screen adaptation of Rawhead Rex. So, he pushed himself with his directorial debut with Hellraiser. The film was based on the novel The Hellbound Heart. The movie came on the screen in 1987, and it introduced the audience to Doug Bradley’s demon Lead Cenobite, who is also known as Pinhead. The film’s first three franchisees were terrific, but the fourth installment, Hellraiser: Bloodline, became underperformed and went straight to video. The remake of Hellraiser created a lot of frenzy among the directors like Martyr’s Pascal Laugier also never seemed to move ahead with the film either.

    The Hellraiser franchise finally began to show signs of life, but the plot details yet to be revealed.

The moviemaker hasn’t revealed the plot details yet, but the Harrowers will be explored on the screen. The audiences got to know about the Harrowers in the early 1990s. The goddess Morte Mamma appointed The Harrowers to sneak into Hell.

    She instructed them to rescue the certain damned souls trapped there. The damned souls were suffering in torments. The Harrowers made them Pinhead and the Cenobites’ enemies.

    The Harrowers solo series was interesting, but they didn’t execute the concept well. The main problem of the Harrowers story was the stories were in the same pattern. So, it became a problem to solve the puzzle box. The Harrowers is an adventure story with a strong horror edge. In the movie, the audience could see that the anti-heroes’ group came together to rescue a damned soul. Much classical imagery of the series can be reserved with Pinhead, but it would give the viewers a fresh take on the concept. As the team learned to work together, it provides some emotional stakes also. After 1996’s Bloodline, the Hellraiser franchise hasn’t hit the screen yet. So, the next franchise better is good and needs to have a strong reintroduction.
