One of the most anticipated films of 2021 and the newest addition to Legendary’s Godzilla franchise is releasing on the 26th of March. The trailer for ‘Godzilla vs. Kong’ dropped last month, and fans have spent almost every single day since then trying to break it down, find the tiniest details and theorise what they can expect. Given how the monster was birthed in Japan, it is only fair that fans get a look at the Japanese trailer as well, and a new one has been dropped yesterday by the official YouTube handle of Toho’s Godzilla. Although most of the trailer features the same scenes that we saw in the original one, glimpses of moments are easy to miss.
Breaking down the trailer, scene by scene
We can see the trailer open with the same ominous music and logos of both Warner Bros. and Legendary lined with shiny blue tints similar to the colour plasma beams that Godzilla shoots. Within thirty seconds of the trailer starts, Godzilla arrives, and the battle begins. As we saw in the American trailer, Kong was heavily overpowering Godzilla. Not only did he land a few good punches and deflect the Big G’s atomic breath, but he also charged at him with his fascinating new battle axe. However, here we get to see Godzilla getting in a good hit at Kong, and considering the ship these two were on when K got smacked by G, it seems like this was right before or after Kong punches Godzilla. Another exciting scene we saw was humans trying to use weapons to hit Godzilla, despite that option failing them many times. Godzilla avoids it by swimming under the water. Another attempt can be seen when numerous small missiles, which can probably do colossal damage, are sent underwater, and Godzilla uses his atomic breath to destroy them.

Is Skull Island going to play a bigger role in this film?
However, the most interesting development we see is Kong roaring at someone (or something) while standing on top of a cliff, and behold, it looks like he is in Skull Island. This could have many implications. As seen in the American trailer, Kong was swinging around and defeating snake-like creatures that could fly (Nozuki), and this battle seemingly took place in Skull Island. It is possible that the new scene is just an extension of the one from the American trailer or maybe it was humans Kong was seen roaring at from the cliff as they arrive at Skull Island to get Kong to fight G. Whatever the answer may be, likely, we will finally get to see how one will get in and out of Skull Island. As speculated, Godzilla has never been to the Island, and this very well might be because of the hurricane that surrounds it 24/7, and the last time we saw humans do it, it almost killed them all. The trailer ends with Kong using his battle axe, not only to stop Godzilla’s plasma beam but use to charge the weapon upright before striking G with it.
